FBW A32nx Mod

I need to update (again). I’m way behind, having not flown the Airbus since the Xmas trip.

The speed these guys are working on this mod is amazing. I still can’t believe it’s free.

Airbus does not authorize the downloading or utilization of any third party apps not specifically approved for use by the FAA for the operating air carrier in question.

But if you want to know how to do it, here’s how…

Yay, the EFB feature has been enabled in the normal development build - nice new toy!

I’m still doing my long(ish) haul from Vancouver, BC to the UK to be ready for the Sim World Update 3 on Feb 9th. You can see where I am now today.

My plan is a skip over to Dublin and wait there. I’ve been reading up on ETOPs and the various position reports and it’s pretty interesting stuff. I’ll even try to fly a SLOP just because I love the name. I really enjoy not having to learn emergency procedures…

Top tip, simbrief.com oceanic flights don’t seem to import automatically, as the navpoint format for lat/lng is not quite right for the ocean ones. You can manually add the points in the flightplan in the MCDU using this:

Simbrief Format:
DCT JOOPY NATZ 49N050W 51N040W 53N030W 53N020W DCT MALOT/N0447F330 DCT GISTI DCT OSGAR OSGA5U

MCDU Format:
JOOPY 4950N 5140N 5330N 5320N MALOT GISTI OSGAR

…so if you have ‘49N050W’ then type in ‘4950N’ and the waypoint is recognized. Not sure if I can get simbrief to output in a better way in it’s settings, or if these waypoints are part of the Navigraph AIRAC extras - probably.

Anyway, I just now have to sit for 4 hours in the darkness. This truly is madness…

I’m the purple arrow.

You posted that 16 hours ago. Do we need to send a rescue boat? Did you make it?

Dublin came up pretty fast due to the winds, with flight time just over 4 hours. Sim could do with a replay as I didn’t take any pics. I will say though, Ireland really is very green. :ireland:

Thanks a nice A320 channel, always enjoy that guy’s videos and streams. Learnt lots about the Airbus in those over the last couple of months.

Yes I agree, I’m really enjoying his explanations of the systems that seem to be introduced in the A320 at an incredible rate. The Fly by Wire team are doing an amazing job. I never thought I could get immersed in this type of aircraft but it’s my go to plane in all sims at the moment, keep up the good work guys.

A vital new feature added today.

COFFEE!! :coffee:

Exotic close up, with top on (so not like @BeachAV8R’s ‘boating videos’).

We don’t trust them with an iPad, but the FO gets one too:

Removable by clicking on it, with grubby stains left behind:

No biscuits? :frowning:

Chocolate Hobnobs as a preference, guaranteed to leave crumbs everywhere.

Custom autopilot work seems to be doing great - this one’s on vertical speed and flight path angle mode, and as per usual is very informative:

Yeah, they keep floding flighsim.to. I would not be surprised if they created a new category for them :grinning: :cup_with_straw:

A couple of big changes to the structure of this mod:

  1. It’s no longer something that changes the default Airbus. but now a separate aircraft. As in:

  1. The license changed from the GNU GPLv3 to MIT. If you don’t know what any of those are then it’s more to do with a commercial outfit having to deal with it. It doesn’t mean it won’t be free, just not pure copyleft ish.

Which both changes leads to the mod going to be available within the MSFS Marketplace as a free aircraft. That will help a lot of people, especially on Xbox etc.

Unfortunately liveries will have to be tweaked to now work on the FBW A320, but I’d anticipate that happening quite quickly (plus they mentioned a converter app to help as well).

The Installer is just doing this for the development and experimental branches at the moment (the latter including the custom autopilot code for now).
