I’m probably not going to get it as I own the full fidelity versions of all the new jets, but I have a couple of friends who might like it if it’s well done.
Questions I have:
how are the simplifications? I get there’s probably no clickable cockpit, but how do you select AA and AG weapons in the F-5E FC? Do you still have access to the bombing tables in the F-86F FC? Things like that…
I assume the cockpits are the same as the full fidelity versions, but can someone confirm the first person pilot bodies are still included?
Do I need to add separate “FC” slots to a mission, or can a player with the F-5E FC join a F-5E Full Fidelity slot?
I’m curious how bombing is handled in the F-5E. Keybinds for MILs adjustment, or a magic CCIP? I’m curious how they simplified jets that are already simple enough from the start.
The best way to define FC 2024 is -
This is for people approaching the genre of realistic Flight Sims.
Just a joystick, no HOTAS or rudder control.
Relatively friendly with the mechanics of flight.
The Flight model is basically the same as the real module, only key strokes are simplified.
Cockpits are the same as the real module.
I was able to get rid of the error message at DCS launch that the FC aircraft not being licensed. That is the A-10A, MiG-29, F-15C, Su-27, and Su-33. I manually uninstalled all of them, then manually reinstalled them with @SkateZilla’s launcher. Now I don’t get the error message, all of those FC aircraft work, and the full fidelity F-86F and MiG-15bis also work.
However, when I launch DCS, the module manager indicates a number 1. When I go into the Module manager in DCS, it prompts me to install FC3. If I do this, the install process runs, then restarts DCS. But the little red indicator is back. This is not really a big deal, but I just want to make sure that DCS is installed correctly. Anyone else getting this?
I’ve had FC3 since it came out, but when I bought I believe Super Carrier in addition to it and the new Kuz it gave me the Su-33 again as well.
I’ve had a '1" there to install the Su-33 again for literally years. It goes up anytime I buy something else but always shows up next to Afghan map or whatever.
I ignore it.
Flaming Cliffs 3 is end of life / long term support,
FC3 Licenses are being replaced by the FCS Aircraft licenses for all Aircraft in the Module. Login / Auth. checks will be wonky until it’s all fixed and cleaned up on the server end. Changing everyone’s licenses likely could not be done ahead of time. Which is why it’s a bit wonky.
With fc3 Depreciated 100%, and in LTS as the individual Modules, ED only has to maintain the individuals instead of both individuals and FC3. Also like ~600MB less they have to host.
FC3 was made prior to the new licensing system which supported “Bundles”.
For example, FC2024, it not a single module, it will literally add all the FCS Aircraft licenses to your profile and run DCS_Updater.exe install A-10A F-15C… and so on through all the FCS Aircraft.
I honestly would not be surprised of more FCS Aircraft come down in the pipeline.
But I wouldnt expect FCS only aircraft, the cost of the 3D External, FM and simple avionics are likely still expensive, so taking modules that already have FMs and Models would be the best course.
DCS has stepped away from the “Arcade / Game Mode” Options, so having the FCS aircraft are the next step down. Players can start with the FCS aircraft then move to DCS.
Also there are aircraft in the MAC Trailer, that are not in FC2024.
Basically this is IL2 but with jets and a better editor. If they can beat 1C to a Korea map this could well end IL2 for at least a few members of my squad. Give me navalized panthers (is there any other kind?) and a simplified Bell 47 and I’d be among the first in line.
I’m pretty sure the original mod doesn’t work anymore. I remember seeing an updated version floating around a few years ago but I don’t know if it still works.
