Did some work today. Took an Apache up to SkogFARP4, which only had a single SA-8 guarding it. Even with SkogFARP3 being light on munitions (only 10 of each), not much of a fight.
Took a chinook up and grabbed it. While I was doing that Trevola got worked over by a Mi-28 and turned neutral, with an inbound Mi-8. I bought a combined arms air defense squad and spawned it at Trevola, but they didn’t do any shooting. The Mi-8 refused to land however, so I’ll take it.
Our counter helicopter platform. I wish the SAM threat level was lower in all our missions, as I really enjoy flying the light stuff and red reticle bombing.
Basically replace SA-10 and 11’s with SA-7’s, and replace any other SAM’s with AAA. If we’re sticking to the light attack/COIN birds, SA-10’s and 11’s replaced with SA-7’s and leave the rest alone. There are enough heavy machine guns and auto cannons to make ground attack interesting in the little stuff.
Really missing flying these missions and participating. Work has been relentless..and this weekend I go out of town until next Thursday..so you guys will definitely be wrapped up by the time I get back.
Probably more of a CTLD addition to allow troop hauling in the UH-60L DAP equipped with miniguns, but I noticed a post by BaDCRC at Black Shark Den to add the following to missions with that aircraft.
“So we get the crew dogs with miniguns and we can lift troops when not running pylons”

Hopped on later tonight, and helped @PaulRix do some damage. My connection was having issues and I got botted twice, with a crash in between. Called it a night, at that point. Hopefully Pual was able to get the capture.
I’ve had a busy two weeks and wasn’t able to participate with you all in Kola. I have, however, been enjoying the AARs. @jenrick, your sweeping mastery of DCS is super impressive. You have competence in every machine and seemingly every mission style. I look forward to learning more from you and hope we don’t get so bored with the Foothold concept that we drop it. But I don’t think that will happen. What really made me want to comment now was screenshot one above. That’s art, man!
Man have I got you guys fooled! You’ll note I have very few A2A AAR’s as BVR is really not my thing. I can run the radar and fire a missle, but actually fighting at BVR is definitly not a strong suite of mine. Also, aerial refueling is something I have struggled with for literally decades, maybe this will be the year? Far as competence in all the different modules, I fly pancake so there is a fair bit of ALT+Tab’ing to read Chucks guide if it’s something I haven’t flown in a while or a system I don’t use a lot.
No rush, got plenty of other stuff to do in DCS! Someone released a campaign for the Hind as a UN peacekeeper on Cyprus and I am also dogfighting in the F1!
Server should be back up..and good news..using Rust Desk and the accompanying iOS app I should have remote access to the server in the future. Only thing I can’t fix would be a power loss… (it was a DCS crash..)
No problem. I installed Rust Desk before I left on this vacation with the hopes it would work..and it does..! That will be helpful and I could probably give a few regulars access to the server machine (I don’t have anything personal on it..just DCS and Arma stuff) so they could remotely reset things if I’m out of the loop.
We’re back up. Captured two zones that @PaulRix had cleaned out. Tried to make some headway at 23, but the SA-11 wasn’t agreeable to my Harrier and I called it a day before I got shot down.
I can’t even get SA-10s to not shoot at us…
