  • Logistics

This is where you can order all kinds of crates, like zone supplies or FARP. They spawn as physical crates in front of your helicopter and have to be loaded in the back or picked up as sling load.

For loading in the back:

  • open cargo door
  • Radio menu
  • F8 Ground Crew
  • Rearm and Refuel
  • Bottom left there’s a button for loading cargo, bottom right for unloading

For sling load:

  • Radio menu
  • F6 Cargo
  • Pick the crate you want to sling load
  • It gets red smoke on it
  • Crew chief gives instructions when you hover close enough
  • Sling load is automatically connected when you hover in the right spot for a few seconds.

You can usually bring 2 crates:

  • 2 in the back of the Chinook
  • 2 in the back of the Hip
  • 1 in the back of the Hind and 1 slung underneath (with 60% fuel)

Chinook, if light on fuel, can fit 3 in the back.

Sorry..participation for me and tending to the server have taken a back seat because of that work thing again…:joy:

Whoever is feeding the AI flights to the SA-10 at Kittila please stop, you’ll give it stomach trouble.

Mig’s left me alone at least.

Low, alone, pretty much unarmed, and only moderately afraid.

No clue what happened with my pitot system (and yes I kicked the heater on), definitely would have been nice to have my airspeed indicator working correctly. I am sitting on the ground and still showing 13 knots, on occasion I had it at 86 knots on the ground. I at least am reasonably used to the Chinook and can visually estimate my speed to a workable degree.

Definitely a good haul, did 3 hoist recoveries due to the woods. Minus the equipment issue, a good time.

Thanks! Tried to load the FARP crates in the Mi-8 but it seems like CTLD only allows me to load all three or none. Any solution for this?

Did a sling load resupply in the Mi-8 after I got knocked out by two 29’s trying to attack the most southern base. Bastards had it in for my hind. Noticed a enemy flight of 24’s going there later on so took out my own Hind with a MANPAD team. They took care of one and I shot the straggler down with my glorious fixed cannon. Then I randomly had a engine fire and the whole thing burned down… Alas!

Googling a bit it might just be a bug, icing, or a birdstrike. Apparently that is a setting somewhere in DCS, didn’t know that!

It is icing. Apparently even in summer it is ten below in Lapland

Yeah could be, though the anti-ice was on all the time. Apparently you set it to manual in icing conditions?

Ya, set it to manual on. It made the warnings go away on my Hip.

Yesterday evening I ended my session by taking a herc from Bodo and brought two crates to Vindicat, one to Joker and one to Kiruna.

I got promoted for that, but promptly lost the rank stupidly wild weaseling an SA-10 solo.

No wonder you were worth 325 point when I picked you up.

I’ll have to look, but I know you can spawn the crates and have the extras sitting on the ground. I setup a FARP in the PG with a Blackhawk and that can only do 2 crates at a time.

Did you follow the instructions? CTLD is not involved IIRC

In the cargo menu that pops up next to the rearm menu, you can select and load crates individually.

I did this a few times in Hind and Hook, will check if anything is different in the Hip.

If he’s trying to load a FARP, that’s through CTLD unless there is some functionality I had missed previously.

Ohh I’m so sorry I explained the wrong kind of crates :person_facepalming:

Yeah I tried all sorts of different options and combinations, could only load all thrice at the same time and the Hip simply did not agree with that unsurprisingly!

Does anyone know what the range of the mortar teams is?

Can we check if birds are on on the server? I was done attacking SAMAlvik(lots of those S300 batteries are now burning) and as I was moving out for a few minutes something hit my Hind, it started shaking and I crashed when the tail rotor departed. No icing, no other issues, no high speed. Just flying above trees(not even skimming them). I also wasn’t shot down by the AI or shot at so I think I may have hit some birds.

I discovered my most recent mysterious crash!

So, fully loaded with ATGM’s and a mortar team.

My brave MANPAD team is still guarding the pass from the east just on the other side of this river!

The Mortar “team” giving no shits on where to deploy in relation to the whirly choppy bit on top…

Shooting the S300 battery.

Chopper bits, everywhere!

It was a powerline… Didn’t see it at all in VR.

Yep me too. I asked Leka on discord if the SAM settings are a one off mission start thing or dynamic and he thinks it’s as you change it it replaces things, so that’s good as an option.

Lovely news!

Deployed a sam site near the mortar team. Found two F4’s trying to shoot down two hinds, and doing it badly so I took over. They then decided to attack the SA-10 site by flying over it and crashing into it.

Recovered my previous pilot, knocked out another few launchers, I think there might still be more. At least a couple of trucks.

Tried to figure out more about the FARP crates but they appears to have disappeared, can’t find them anymore and CTLD says I am crate limited now so whoops.

I’ll hop on this evening. IIRC you can choose “Get” or “Get and Load”, if you do Get they spawn the crates and you can do as you will with them. “Get and Load” will put them in the AC for you, but that’s where you run into not being able to carry them all. I’ll verify I’m remembering that correctly this evening.

Verified it, select Get and it will spawn the crates adjacent to your position to load up as you can.

Your extra CTLD crates should despawn after 5-10 minutes if I remember correctly.

FARP Dallas is now in operation, about 8 nm W of that SA-10 site at Kittila.

Huh, hadn’t seen this warning in the Ch-47 yet

Well look at that

For some reason the gunners in the CH-47 keep switching themselves back to hold fire. So of course I flew right over some technicals and infantry on the way in to setup the FARP, and lost an engine. Thankfully I was about 30 seconds out from landing to setup the FARP.

Yep, this worked for me as well!

I think there’s a bug going on then, couldn’t get the FARP crates a couple of hours later.
