I’m not an expert there either, I did ask an AI tool like ChatGPT or copilot to restrict this list to availability before a certain year. I see the AIM-9X, AIM_120 and later AIM_54 variants in it. I wouldn’t want to copy/paste the AI blurb here now, but it’s easy to reproduce with a very basic prompt.
Which year does the mission take place in? My sample prompt for ChatGPT was “Which of these weapons are post 1980?”.
I put 1989 in the mission..but I don’t mind there being some wiggle room. I see that R-27s are missing from that list..and probably more…and I look into the config files shows that some of those missiles have a designation with CF..a Google search of that specific to DCS seems to indicate those are maybe “Computational Fluid Dynamics” versions of the DCS missiles (?):

There is a Cold War user file on the Discord channel that may be a bit out of date because it hasn’t had the updates to the mission that Leka has made… but it may have more valid Cold War constraints that I can copy paste. I will look at that in a bit.

Looks amazing, thanks for all the work you’ve put into this.. The apaches have the radar guided Lima, not the laser guided kilo. And we have all TGPs but perhaps it should just be a houserule that you don’t bring the sniper TGP instead of burdening beach even more.
Mo pods at all on jets except the one on the phantom. Give the kiowa and gazelle a reason to play. Buddy lasing is tremendous fun.
FYI Gazelle can’t buddy lase as far as I’m aware. Only laser range finding, and it sends control commands through a wire for its own SACLOS ATGMs.
I’m confused. Are these the weapons that should be allowed or not allowed? The list starts off with some very old Sparrows, then lists a few Sidewinders, some of which are all-aspect capable, which I thought we didn’t want, and then it lists AMRAAM (big nono) and Phoenix A-model (should be in, but expensive and limited).
I’ve put dashes in front of the ones that I think shouldn’t be in the mission, based on what was said earlier in the thread.

I would give red the R-60 (it’s an early 70ies missile). The SD-10 is an ARH missile (basically the chinese amraam equivalent) so that should be out. I won’t mind fighting against R-73 equipped fighters either but if we’re saying no late cold war stuff that’s fine with me.
On the western side I don’t mind seeing Sidewinders up to the AIM-9J/P, even the AIM-9LL/RB74 (first all aspect variant) I would be okay with but that’s late cold war eagain, definitely no AIM-9M or AIM-9X of course.
AIM-7M, P and MH should be out. The only ARH missile should be the AIM-54A with the MK60 motor.
RVV-xx are late soviet missiles that never made it into production iirc.

Went through the docs and put –’s where I found them appropriate. My knowledge of Russian and Soviet ordnance is not complete, so someone who knows ‘em better needs to look those over.

@Troll would you perhaps know how the U/22 and U/22A ECM pods compare to the technology target of first half of 1980s? Can’t seem to find their introduction into service dates online
I also commented out the generic “AIM-9” and “AIM-7”, as I guess those are the M models we’ve had since LOMAC.
I think the BLUE AI F-14s are going to need to be handicapped to not carry the Phoenix.. Just watching the server they are tearing up anything that comes airborne..

Is the AIM-7F comparable to the R-27R?
I hope we can find a way to do that, would be a shame to block AIM-54A for players.
