As a Noob to AirHauler and VAs–and having no idea what FSEconomy is–might one of you king and knowledgable gents put out a paragraph or two summarizing what is going on.
Some questions I have:
What is the difference between AH2 and FSE? Are they exclusive?
How is it that MAD is being “reborn” - i.e. was it dead?
How would one “join”? Is AH2 required? (I am pretty sure I’m going to get it anyway)
Can a casual XP user still participate (I’ve been concentrating on DCS lately)
If I decide to start up my own AH2 company - Intrastate Delivery & International Overseas Transport Services (IDIOTS…working title) would I be in friendly competition with MAD?
Yeah - today I’ll maybe try to open a new Air Hauler 2 sub-forum with both AH2 and FSE branches. I’ll put a new user sticky at the top of each and edit them over time (because I’m still learning a lot too). It might take some time to get those stickies up and running.
I put out exactly the same request two days ago. The best I can tell so far is that AH2 and FSEconomy are two totally different systems that do similar things: create an economy around sim flying so that we have a compelling reason to fly around: AH2 costs a little $. FSEconomy is free. I know nothing more about AH2 because I haven’t bought it yet. FSE has been fun so far. You can fly what you want where you want so long as you can find the plane you want available for rent near or at your point of departure. Planes, trips, FBO, MX status, Fuel, FBO, virtual airlines, and much more are maintained for you and the rest of the world at server.fseconomy.net.
Can we make @Sine_Nomine post a sticky for this section of the forum. Very good explanation. If you are like me and needed a little purpose for your civil aviation flights, try one or both out.
For ultimate #REALISM, get Vatsim and you can pretend you are @BeachAV8R or any of our other resident pilots doing their day job.
Easy, just need one of these (though they are in demand now)
I tried that, with mixed-results. Mostly a timing issue; when I’m ready to go (1500L, or 0100L, etc) there’s no one around, especially where I want to fly. Seems a good option for those few high-density places however.
And I’m not sure yet how to get AI traffic in there - XLife? And do they use UNICOM. It’s been warry qwiet when I fly.
As someone else here has mentioned, XP’s ATC has left me wanting.
That would also require you to set your phone alarm to go off at 3AM at random and go downstairs and fly a virtual flight. Might be good too to put your rig on rollers so you can roll it out into the sub freezing temps for the first 15 minutes of the first leg…
Oh…and get yourself a Waffle House frequently eater discount card…
