My wallet is locking this thread for two weeks.
FSX Steam Edition is on sale at the moment (might go lower during the Summer Sale?). Typically it gets as low as $4.99 but it is $7.49 at the moment. Looks like most DLC is 70 to 50% off at the moment as well. I’ve pretty much got everything I want for it…but thought I’d mention it:
You’d think they’d learn by now.
I suspect they capacity plan, look at the 5% of down-time when the sale starts and then collectively shrug and go get a fancy coffee.
X-Plane is 50% off at the moment too…and most DLC 33% off…

If you do buy X-Plane off Steam…be sure you go to the DLC page and at the bottom are all the individual scenery pack installs that I think you do separately for the Steam edition. And with this being the kickoff day for the sale…I’m betting those downloads might be a bit slow…
Then head to X-Plane.org and start installing custom scenery…LOL…there are lots of great ones (and lots of horrible ones)…
And keep an eye on the .ORG store for specials…the 737-200 and Q400 on sale right now are awesome…
For X-Plane airports I’ve used this a bit, it gets expanded on frequently (it shows the X-Life compatible ones, but the links to the scenery are useful too):
