Game Deals & Book thread

Yeah, I’m a sucker for Game Deals (just look at my huge Steam library of unplayed games!)… So this will be the official Game Deals thread.

Spotted a good one today (I already have the game though) at the Humble Store. This is a fun game with some fun physics to it…

Lunar Flight $1.99 (activates on Steam): The Humble Store: Great games. Fantastic prices. Support charity.

I like Lunar Flight. One of those titles I want to play more but keep forgetting. Apparently it’s really nice on VR Oculus Rift, and the added Mars levels look interesting too. Steam link here:

That’s very cool. I will have to ‘borrow’ works’ Oculus Rift DK2 again

My go to sites for game deals are http://isthereanydeal.com/ (where you can keep a wishlist and be alerted at price drops, also possible to import your Steam wish list) and Digital Distribution » SavyGamer

That looks good. I also use this one while seeing if anything old but good comes up at a pennies price:

If you get to borrow the DK2 do not miss to take a spin in DCS World and Elite: Dangerous. Flying through contrails in DCS is something else as is undocking from an orbiting station in Elite and looking (up) at the planet - pure awesomeness.

Plus some of these ‘bundle’ sites seem to give away games so cheap as well. This one is probably worth it for GRID alone…

It’s like we’ve crossed the threshold where there are so many games that they need to pay us to consider them

Some oldies but goodies retro sims for pennies…

Looks like Bundle Stars is having a pretty good sale: HERE! only $3.49 for 10 titles… Pretty good deal for Op Flashpoint Dragon Rising & Red River…the other titles in the pack I don’t know much about…

And I don’t know much about this other pack…but the advertising is pretty good!

Wargame: European Escalation is on sale right now for $2.49.

Fun game… I was not very good at it, but loved the visuals. I thought it was pretty hard though. I haven’t tried Red Dragon yet.

Don’t know how good a deal this is - but Newegg has the Saitek X-52 on sale for $99 (41% off):

I loved my X-52 (still have it) until the Warthog came along…

Fallout franchise sale.

Given the announcement of Fallout 4…

…then these are a good deal. I much preferred New Vegas (with all the DLC), but both are good.

Cool looking game. So can you play as different types of dogs or just the German Shepherd?

There’s planned cyber-poodle DLC, but for now just the one dog.

Feral Chihuaua and Mangy Labradoodle come with the base game, but you have to buy the others. Unfortunately, the German Shepard is a backer-exclusive, as is the Rotweiler. Similarly, although you’ll be able to buy the Black Lab, Chocolate Lab, and Yellow Lab, backers get all three plus the Fox Red and Silver Labs (still all American, though - English labs are supposedly coming in a silver edition of the game). Why they will be charging more for Beagle than the Basset is anybody’s guess - who wouldn’t want be a Basset roaming around the Post Apocalypse?

Personally, I’m liking the Wheatland Terrier (looks just like my old puppy!) but the fact that you have to pay a monthly fee to keep the fur trimmed is just going too far.

Grooming DLC is a slippery slope…

Steam Summer Sale 2015.

The usual usual

I picked up the Metro Redux pack, basically some hifi remakes of older games, but very good. I’ve played the first before, but never got into the second.

Also, there is this clicky game, that is either a social experiment or just Valve doing some sort of Darwinian filter on who to cull next

Anyone got their eye on anything in particular this year?

Well, I’m one of those “Patient Gamers”…so eventually I’ll buy GTA V just because the graphics look incredible. I haven’t played a GTA game since Vice City, so I’m sure it will be a pretty big jump from that.

Other than the DCS line-up and FSX and X-Plane stuff…I don’t have anything that is a standout on my radar…but mostly because I don’t really know what is coming. I keep wishing Sonalyst (are they even in business anymore) would release something cool. And of course, year after year I keep saying I will get into Steel Beasts…
