Yeah. I can’t stand westerns

I’m actually with Ace on this. I just could not get into RDR2.

Thing is I actually quite like a good Western. I think it was more to do with the translation of the console control ‘mechanics’ to the PC… especially combat/aiming (I am a WASD + Mouse user).

That and I didn’t find any of the characters even slightly relatable.

That is my problem with RDR and GTA. I want to play nice, good guys/gals.

I hadn’t considered that as a factor but it definitely is actually a good point as another reason i can’t be doing with RDR.

If you like Westerns, but don’t like playing the badguy RDR2’s open world actually works pretty well without doing almost any of the main plot. I’ve had pretty good time, hunting (beast and bounties), fishing and in general ignoring the plot. There’s a ton of content that has nothing to do with being an outlaw out in the world you can get into.

You are officially uninvited from Texas until you at least learn to like lever guns. If you can provide information regarding horse related trauma in your past, that may grant you a waiver on that count. Please return any BBQ, sides, and sauces to your nearest Texas consulate or embassy.

Wait, people are born without a Mare’s leg, in hand, in other places?

These should get me ‘citizenship’… right?

And I have two bottles of Stubb’s in the pantry (Smokey Mesquite and Spicy/Hot Sauce)

Please report to your local Texas Consulate to receive you perfectly average 128oz mug.

Be prepared to present it at all future Consulate visits to verify your status. In the event you lose your mug (I mean they are pretty small and easy to misplace), a 52oz Buccee’s mug, or at least 7 large Whatabuger cups can be used until you recieve a replacement.

I agree - and what I thought was obviously the correct ending for GTAV turned out to be unsatisfying (it wasn’t the “all main characters”, which was written as the more satisfying ending).

I also tried and failed to engage with GTA V, RDR2, and Witcher 3. I really liked Witcher 1 and 2, though. The world and characters interested me enough, but something about the presentation, gameplay, and story of Witcher 3 totally failed to click with me.

I skipped Cyberpunk 2077 because I just had no interest in the setting. I liked Deus Ex games, but I know it’s different enough from Deus Ex that it wouldn’t help.

I love GTA V because it reminds me of Shane Black’s movies like The Last Boyscout and other 80s/90s cheesy action flicks.

Too bombastic to be taken seriously.

Edit: Payday 2 gave me problems. I initially disliked the idea of shooting cops.

After I tried and disliked GTA V, I was concerned about playing RDR 2 for fear it would be Grand Theft Horse.

To me, that’s pretty much exactly how it turned out. Now I’ve learned that in RDR 2 things change as the story progresses and time goes on, but my problem was after almost 20 hrs I couldn’t hold on any longer.
Same with Witcher 3. I didn’t play 1 or 2 hours, I put in enough time to finish shorter FPS games, and still I was always more or less forcing myself to boot it up. After that happens a few times, when playing a game is more an obligation than a desire, I give up.

I played for a bit but the game did not hold my interest. I agree it is creepy and the graphics are pretty cool but I can’t seem to enjoy shooters anymore. I wonder if it’s an age thing.

I’m currently playing Corruption 2029 and enjoyed it initially. Sadly, the game has become repetitive It has the same mission structures and maps but with increasingly difficult enemies. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be playing it. I got it during one of Epic’s free game cycles, so I’m not too disappointed.

Yes this is a very common thing. I myself have gravitated more towards RPG’s over the past several years but standard fast paced shooters similar to Doom and Quake no longer interest me.
