Thanks Poneybirds. I really appreciate the comments.
Thank you sobek. I usually buy pretty traditional looking instruments. Had thought that I would buy a butterscotch blonde, but almost everyone has one of those. I saw the Sienna Burst at the local Guitar Center, but would rather buy from Sweetwater for a number of reasons. I was looking for one under 7 lbs, and when this one came up @ 6lb 14oz, it checked all the boxes. The finish is a little darker in person, especially the neck and headstock, which look roasted. It plays really well too. Can’t find anything that I would change. The rear (tone) knob is a push-push switch that puts the two pups in series mode in the middle position. So I guess makes them a big humbucker? Whatever it is, there is quite a noticeable boost. Not sure that I will use it that much, but good to have a 4th position to play with.
That’s for damn sure. If they don’t like my playing, I can always crank the tweed deluxe to the Neil Young setting and torture them with Cinnamon Girl, Cortez, or Love and Only Love. Proper 3 chord old man rock and roll requires a bare minimum of articulation.
Sat down with the Tele and a ‘57 (5F1) Champ clone that a guy in Maine made for me a decade ago. It’s got vintage Sylvania and RCA tubes. The three of us got along like newlyweds until almost 3 hours later when my wife reminded me with a text message that it was my turn to be in charge of dinner. Fender did a really nice job with her. I know that vintage Teles are a great thing but this one does really well, especially with a Champ. The setup and build quality are really excellent.
Like seemingly many of us here I am also in the camp of “played guitar for 25+ years but barely out of beginner level”.
I guess we should just be happy that we can play at all. I also have a slight tremor but knocks on wood so far it isn’t any problem for playing the guitar. Glad to see you winning with that hand that you have been dealt!
I’m glad you found a new spark to continue playing and wish you all the best that your hands will soldier on @chipwich . (Look at Keef for an inspiration ;))
I can only agree about music being therapeutic and possessing healing powers.
I’m more of a collector than a player but everytime I grab a guitar I dive into a different world. Focusing on nailing that one lick and getting your mind in a flow state is magical. You don’t actually have to achieve perfection. The pursuit of it is the rewarding part for me.
