As soon as you get back in the plane it is hard to resist sampling local foods… Just one more bite of that Memphis BBQ or Portland (Maine) lobster roll…

I’d love to have that pace. Been off the wagon myself of late, thankfully I haven’t paid for it weight wise. Everyone needs a break every now and then.

Well well well, my wife convinced me to pick up the gym course she’s doing.
The instructor is directing the class via iPad and we do these exercises at home.

I though it was some sort of cardio, lightweight stuff.

OOOOOoh boy.

I.
Was.
Dead.
Wrong.

She’s instructing this mix of Mobility Training, Total Body Workout and Shadow Boxing with these belts with elastics.

Holy Schwarzenegger… I might me strong but the stuff these exercises require from you is apparently to build stamina for each single muscle fiber…

I’ve done 30 minutes yesterday and 30 more today and I feel like… Dead.

If I die, let it be known, I love you all and holyfq@#*k I need to get in better shape.

Got off my butt Tuesday after work. My belly is so out of control I dont recognize myself from the neck down. So I walked 5km in about 45 minutes. Today I ran it in 33 minutes. I have to keep at it. Had to buy more pants with elastic so I had something to wear to work. Cheeze! So out of shape. So tired of my excuses. The temp is finnally falling at night. It feels good to run in 85 degrees F. This is the desert.

Day 3. I managed a 29:30 5km. Its humid as all get out and I am glad I did not use that as an excuse. It was 34C, so about 90F at night. Thats good in Qatar for this time of year. I hope i can keep this up. My pants are saying “Dont throw us out”. I did not stuff my face at lunch too. Must maintain focus.

Just LMAO!

This might finally be the year this sticks. Turned 49 last month and vowed to be in the best shape of my life by 50.

Was 233 lbs. in late August…started Keto dieting and got back on my bike…riding around 20 miles three to four times a week. So far I’m down to 217 lbs…and it feels great. The rides are getting easier…the hills are getting easier. My facial structure is emerging once again

Not a huge fan of Keto…but the two times I’ve tried it - it works really well. The goal is to get down to 185 lbs. and then I can come off Keto with a more reasonable diet, portions, and continued exercise.

Getting the weight off has always been easier than keeping it off for me. I have not found that happy medium of something I enjoy doing that helps with weight loss versus my love of food that tastes great but is down right awful for me.

A few years ago my wife and I realized we could get away with splitting a lot of meals. The portions (in general) in our country are pretty huge. I also need to take a lesson from her to eat slower. Apparently your stomach takes a bit of time to signal to your brain it is full…and eating slowly helps that. Of course, in my line of work…it is often grab and go…shoveling food in and racing back to the airport. So that part needs some special discipline…

Worked in the family business from nineteen until my mid forties and I developed horrible eating habits because of it. Like you it was grab and go and eat it as fast as you can so you can go back to work.

Can you imagine what it must be like to be a UPS or FedEx or Amazon driver? They probably blend their lunches and then drink them with a funnel…

Several friends of mine who have worked as delivery drivers have gotten on intermittent fasting in a big way- I’ve done it during regular working times, and once you get past the initial grumpiness of the first week or so, it gets much better.

Im back in the road of shame. No exercise, long days at my desk. Blaming the weather but it really is me. Weekend coming up. Hope I can find the inner strengh.

Supposedly not being distracted while eating helps with that as well (TV, etc.).

After 7 months of doing no more than walking a couple times (3 to 4) a week (3 miles per clip) with the occasional run thrown in, I was given a life line by an old friend who has some weight lifting equipment in his basement. Now I’m back to doing some form of lifting five or six days a week which has been great. No it’s not a true gym, but with all this COVID stuff and the fact that the fitness facilities around here do not require masks while working out (despite being indoors and in relatively close quarters) I’ve stayed out of them.

I have been working as my own boss now for a month or four, five and my belt has been tightened bij two notches. Nor sure about any weight difference…

I have grown so fat that I need new jeans. :frowning:

Going to try and get back into training but my motivation is about zero.

I can lose weight, I just have a hard time keeping it off. As soon as I drop a few pounds, I give myself the green light to drink more beer. Hence the weight comes right back on. It’s maddening!

Cutting my beer intake from one or two per day to one or two per week has been VERY VERY difficult.

I’ve been forced into drinking low carb beer like Corona Premiere. Might as well be drinking water at that point…but the psychological boost that holding a beer has is worth it alone…
