I assumed he meant in an abstract sense - Iāve no knowledge of such a functionality. So Iām āfakingā it.
Should not be that hard to build the check if the camera sees it, right?
I have never done LUA but itās just a whole lot of basic geometry to figure out if the target is within the camera window, then finally check if range is between some minimum and maximum value.
I can do the math for you if youād like to implement it. I do need to know if DCSā xyz axes are oriented right-handed or left-handed.
I just realized that the camera window is circular, not square, as that makes the maths a lot easier

I thought he was referring to something already built into DCS - a functioning camera pod. Iāve just never heard of such.
Yes, thatās how Iād do it. Pretty sure you can get the current aircraft orientation (position too of course; and heading [close enough for this purpose] if not available just wait 2 frames) just never had reason to use it, yet - it was put into my āfeature listā, towards the bottom of it.
What I want is the orientation of your current view - your eyeballs. I could then figure out, on my own, what you were looking at. To my knowledge this isnāt available.
Their world world coord system (Iām not sure of model space, likely same) is:
X+ = North
Y+ = Up
Z+ = East
For 2D itās
X+ = North
Y+ = East
