So M$ is going to buy ED, DCS is going to be CFS once it gains âwhole earthâ and⊠well⊠The angels will sing ![]()
MS and Asobo arenât doing a Combat Simulator, theyâve already stated as much.
MS is going so far as to limit 1st Party Aircraft to no Weapons for the E Rating, and is pushing for 3rd Parties to follow the same rules for the Marketplace.
Which is why they are going to make a second product which is MS selling Asoboâs Flight Simulator except with an R rating for Extreme Fookân Violence.

It will be interesting to see The price point The MSFS Product comes in at compared to DCS??
Watch it be the same. No weapons or enemy AI but same costâŠbecause they think they can.
For sure, ms combat flight sims 1, 2 and 3 came out that way no reason why a hypothetical 4 (or whatever it would be called) would work any differently.
Hope the frogâs little hint means they have something brewing, more the merrier I say - itâs not like there are too many options to chose from or something!
Does MSFS have clickable cockpits??

Yep - the pits are just amazing graphically - depends on the aircraft how many switches are implemented though.
Yep. Iâd even call the cockpit and systems modeling of some of those planes DCS level.
CFS 4 was in the works when it was canned. I saw screen shots from a tester. It was going to be Pacific again, or at least CBI because the one shot I remember was a C-47 flying over âthe humpâ in SE Asia.
Dated by todayâs standards, but the graphics were a step up from CFS 3.
oh thatâs right! I totally forgot about that. I remember seeing one of a P-47 maybe?
From HB Facebook
âPeepinâ Tom and Mouse Ears! Smaller but important additions to DCS: F-14 are on the way, HGU-55 helmet options and the TARPS pod.â
Thanks for the report. Good work as always.
Helmet details to the nth degree? Really? The time required to build that in a modeler and texture map it all up is not trivial but Iâd rather that and the memory space and processor cycles go elsewhere. Looks great however. Really does.
Functional TARPS? Now that would be useful.
TARPS is awesome. I almost skipped that episode of the F-14 Tomcast, but then listened to it anyway. It was by far the most interesting episode, and thatâs saying a lot!
YeaâŠI really miss this podcastâŠIt is so well done with fantastic guests who flew, maintained and developed the aircraft and have a genuine love for the aircraftâŠAlthough I have listened to it beforeâŠI think itâs time for a replay
Hmm. Wonder how one might simulate a TARPs missionâŠI have an ideaâŠbasically RECON: fly between points A and B (or C, D, etc) at/below a certain altitude AGLâŠhmmm. Go really fast.
Have to rewatch that. Thanks.
Excellent book this one:

Has many TARPS references (64 refâs searching the e-book) - their experiences trying to get approval to use it (due to low altitude threats and such).
I wonder if they could make the results of a TARPS run populate a kneeboard for a strike target, similar to the way the Viggen does with the EW pod? That would be cool!
I have the structure to do that now (not the kneeboard): ID a target in real-time (the method isnât that important), then pass it off to you the player to go shack it.
Iâm adding some âfluffâ today (static stuff to liven up the boat), then run it to make sure it isnât a performance drag. Watching CV ops is entertaining in a wayâŠ
Fly to a Point, and have trigger / condition set to if Camera seeâs object mission success.
