My understanding is that we have a later model A. The earlier A (no TCS) to replicate Iran–and I guess 1974~1975 birds–is coming later.

Main difference between early and late will be the RWR. I read that the early RWR has a complex simulation of the electromagnetic waves and antenna positions and angles to produce the (analog) sounds that the real thing did in the same circumstances, as opposed to just using some audio files like all current DCS RWRs do. Same tech is used in the Phantom (maybe it’s even the same RWR model, don’t remember).
The Iranian model will be basically just an early A without TCS with some serious weapon limitations. (No AIM-7M/P, no AIM-54C or Mk60

I am one of the people that say the Tomcat has the best FFB implementation in DCS. The Viggen is probably just as good, but it’s been a year or two since I flew that one so I might have the rose coloured glasses on…

Yeah, the old-timey lines-and-warbles RWR the F-4 and early F-14 had will be a bit more like using the Russian “MiG-21 with lights” RWR as far as learning how to read it when there’s more than one emitter out there.

What stick do you run Torc?
Logitech G940 with the handle removed and an adapter to allow me to attach Virpil stick grips (and a Virpil microcontroller hidden in the case).
I needed to use the G940 for size reasons (neither it nor the MSFFB really have enough force for a long extension), but that VPForce stick base Troll is building looks super promising…

F-14A Early was waiting for the New RWR model and a few other things,
now it’s likely waiting for the new Graphics Art (ALQ-100, and some other changes to the external).
It will likely just sneak in one day unannounced.

I think there was some talk about fixing up the current A and/or B model graphics art as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if they will bundle that all together. Though, to be honest, I don’t look forward to losing all my user-created liveries to the new model changes. The only way to get a somewhat coherent CVW is by downloading hundreds of gigs’ worth of community liveries
