Heatblur F-14 and Forrestal Update

It’s a testament to modern engines! I enjoy reading the monthly fleet reports for the engines I work on, they show unscheduled shop visits, reasons why a flight may have been aborted. And then you still have numbers that have a 99.89% reliability rate(or something like that).

Then to think that the Lockheed Constellation was called the “Most reliable 3 engined aircraft” half a decade ago!

By the forums Gods, let this post be posted. So say we all.

Oh hey, that’s a mighty fine FLOLS.

For those curious, it looks like Swither is still slumming it with a modified variant of the CVN-77 mod kicking around the net.

I’m not the biggest fan of DCS World, but that’s pretty impressive.

I feel like I am slowly getting warmed up the F-14.

I mean, it’s still a filthy swingwing abomination… Still…

I don’t know

Question for @nicholas.dackard

Is the hud camera post actually that prominent in the jet? I noticed in the ACL picture, it is almost totally obscuring the carrier at (what I’m assuming is) 15 units of AoA, and in your fight with the Fulcrum it was obscuring HUD symbology.

Is it actually that big, or is this this just a trick of perspective?

Fly VR and you don’t see it anymore due to stereo vision  It is the same in the F-5E.

But then I’d be stuck trying to fight in VR

4 States, and six different Tomcats later, we wrap up our last research trip for the F-14 with another intense photoshoot, and a cockpit sound recording session!

Are they recording the laptop fan noise?
