HOTAS throttle issues with VR DCS F18C

Yes, the sticky seems to be working fine

Stick…

thats a bit odd, ah… when you selected which aircrafts controls you were changing, there are two for each of the A10 and the F18C … one will say F18C sim and the other will say F18C game, i think … the one you want to change is the SIM one, the game one is for the simplified filght model …

Yes, I am trying to change it in the F18 sim

I guess I could Las way try the uninstall and reinstall of the game if we can’t figur e it out but, it was doing it right after I downloaded the game.

Sorry about the crazy spelling, typing with two fingers on an iPad. :grinning:

no prob, the last thing i can think of at the moment, in the settings the gameplay tab, there is a difficulty section … make sure that the game flight model and the game avionics boxes are not ticked…

also have you tried the SU25T, just to make sure that its not just a corrupt F18 module

Ha, interesting thing…I just took the goggles off while fling and the throttle still did not move but, the small increase/decrease rotating adjusted the throttle.

The one to the right of the throttle.

the one marked incr and decr on the throttle

Yes

if so it looks like you have bound that to the throttle axis, clear the thrust box in the settings and rebind the control using the large handles on the throttle

I have to go, but have a look at that video i linked above, about the 6 minute mark it shows the axis controls.

Will do, it was the J_slider that is the issue. Need to see where that is linked. Thanks a ton for the help.

The take-away is that the automatic axis controller assignment in DCS probably does as much harm as good. For example, you step on your right brake pedal and the stick moves hard left. Best practice when setting up a new aircraft is to blow them all away and rebind as desired. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much time.

I would prefer that DCS didn’t auto assign every controller. That would save me from having to remove a bunch of assignments everytime I connect a new controller, get a new module or just simply update DCS, sometimes.
But, it’s not the biggest issue…

Thanks for the information. I did delete/clear all categories for the joy stick and throttle in axis command. I hit ok and then went to fly…throttle still not working but, the slider on the throttle is working for thrust. I looked but could not find where that cam and is…I won’t to find it so I can delete it and put it in the thrust cell. Any ideas where I can look for it?

Analogue style controls can only be assigned to the Axis lococations so it must be in the axis section. the large handles on the worthog throttle will show as joy_RZ or joy_Z if the small lever is set in the controls it will show as slider 1, this is what mine looks like for the F18c

Ok, all fixed. Went back and saw that the game avionics box was checked, I unchecked it and all is good. That you so much for helping me with this, I very much appreciate your time.
