In the Navy and Air force you have smarter idiots, if there is such a thing.

Yeah but what makes the Glock different? You shouldn’t be fumbling around with a handgun anyway, the moment you unholster a service weapon, it means you’re either trying to get ready for a shot or you’re doing it to unload the gun. In both instances, even an idiot should be highly aware of what he’s doing. I don’t see the benefit of an additional safety for a service handgun that is meant to be carried in a holster at all times.
What kind of jam? Failure to feed, failure to extract, stovepipe, light primer strike? It’s really important to diagnose the problem. That pistol has a history of failure to extract and light primer strikes. Let Sig make it right. Like my dad always said, “Son, nothing ever fixes itself.”
I’ve heard more than one story of idiots who fire multiple rounds into a safety can in the military. I’ve even heard of a story of a CSM firing off a round in a mess hall - where he wasn’t even supposed to have a loaded gun.
So yes, you would expect most people to know better than to disassemble a gun before unloading it, but this is the military we’re talking about here: where magazines are loaded backwards, rounds are loaded vertically, and aiming is a ‘best guess’.

Well, the US DoD foots on the ground kind is not exactly known for demanding university education of their soldiers so there’s that to keep in mind.
Uh, well because in the military where your dealing with idiots, you want to keep things simple.
Pull trigger = dead enemy.
You start futzing around telling idiot soldiers that pulling the trigger disassembles the gun…well that’s a recipe for disaster…
I just remember this YouTube video
There’s this soldier, reserve, regular, I dunno.
Anyway he’s not the brightest crayon in the box.
He’s on the range and he’s wondering why his rifle isn’t going BANG! anymore, now, he keeps his gun pointed down range, mainly because he’s in the prone position.
Calls his instructor over, and this instructor is laughing his arse off as he patiently explains how the gun uses rounds from the magazine and the mag empties locking open to tell you you’re out of bullets.
And he goes “Oh, I didn’t know that”
That is an example of the lowest common idiot.
Not saying every soldier is like that, but you do get the odd one or two. ![]()
If he graduted BCT, that doesnt speak very highly of his cadre. Maybe things have changed since I was in, but there was one thing that you knew after Basic, and that was how to run an M16.
OK… this went way off target… calling soldiers that give their lives for our freedoms and way of life idiots… out of this one. I’ll keep up with the weapon, and contact the manufacture if needed.
Yeah…agreed on that. This thread has run it’s course. Not a great idea to paint a whole group with a broad brush like that.
