Idea for “dynamic” missions

IMHO, the Gunny has nailed it and this should be the goal. Add a pinch of realism without going overboard (yes, I know, a mixed metaphor…stay with me, I think the Gunny is on to something.)

What if we make a distinction between base captured and base active?

In general, the base capture goes as it currently is (I think I read that means your guys on the ground and no enemy forces within 2000m). We add something simple for a touch of realism to make the base active.

Something like…
…Airstrikes to soften up defenses [swoosh-Boom!]. Then the helos swoop in with the troops [Air Assault! as my son, formerly of the 101st, still shouts] or, if close enough to the FEBA, roll in some armor and APCs [rumble, rumble, rumble; "Over hill, Over dale…etc.] and the base is captured. Then for the sake of realism-balanced with fun, a couple of C-17’s fly in [insert the distinct C-17 engine sound], escorted by a couple of F-15s [Fox-1, Fox-2!] to keep the C-17s safe from enemy fighters. (Probably a trigger that looks for Aerodrome captured and the C-17 group active, that activates a couple of Flankers to go after them.)

If the C-17’s land safely, the base is active.

…and it looks like I need to get the PG map…WooHoo

I like your idea here. If you wanted to up the “realism” a hair, and make the base capture a little more precarious, require another flight or two of transports to arrive before it goes active. This would allow for a more back and forth struggle for the base potentially.
