That depends on @miRage’s location. As mentioned by @fearlessfrog if the time zone is not UTC then all bets are off when it comes to tracking attendance.
Even though I know that it does not help with the current users situation the only way to really fix the problem going forward would be to add the timezone check to the tracking code. Then the problem resolves itself forever.
Now getting Discourse to incorporate that fix into their code is another issue entirely…
