Intel 265K, any issues like the 13th and 14th gen intels?

Solid choice on the 265K. VR’s tough on hardware, so any upgrade helps.

If the code doesn’t allow the CPU to work as efficiently as it could, a better CPU won’t always help.
The MT upgrade to DCS helped quite a bit, Vulkan should help even more. No idea when we’ll get that, though.

Yes like I was saying I had an itchy mouse finger and getting the new CPU anyhow so it was worth the effort to me and money as I got a pretty good deal on those parts for being brand new basically…

So I have a capable enough of a GPU but a new CPU couldn’t have hurt which it did not… so all in all I am happy with my purchase and thanks to everybody who has helped or chimed in either way…

Always good to have new gear

Why do they call it Cinebench when it’s really Cinetableandchairs?

HaHa!! I did just get done a IBT run for 24min and had a succes on Stability. So I am pretty sure I am Stable now and it is running at 5.5ghz…

well I set the OC to 5.5ghz and ran IBT at max for 15minutes and passed with flying colors:

IBT 15min

I normally do at least two runs so I can check the “result” is the same (old habit from the dodgy memory controllers in the Westmere CPUs)… but I am super jealous of that Gflops result

yes I can do 2 but thought just one run for stability as long as it does not CTD on me I figure all is well but will run it for maybe an hour…

Well it is 2x the gflops of a 14900K  my buddy has one and we compared notes…

The real test is gaming… but yeah - that looks solid!

Well I played DCS on 2 online servers they other night with increased settings and it ran rather well.

Looking forward to tryingh out MW5 Again…

I would imagine if I could get a hold of a 4090 I would be golden and my GPU is holding me back with DCS and VR.

Now I did try running the game with settings near maxed and resolution of the G2 to 100% but it was just squeaking by at around 64fps… I had to lower the Rez too 90% and have not yet had the chance to test DCS but it should be a bit better.

I had seen a video where the guy said to raise the settings most affected by the GPU and lower the ones set by the CPU and it should have good results…

Using DLSS balanced? I find it works pretty well in DCS for me, no real observable drop from quality visually but runs a bit smoother and faster.

Are you using the new version of DLSS? I will give it a go but in Caucus it seems smooth. I have worse FPS in Syria sometimes…

I will give it a go and see what it does in DCS with DLSS Balanced…

I am now. The visual quality of 4 is a good amount better as far as ghosting and other artifacts.

Now it IS slower. However, due to the larger increase in quality I dial it down to keep the performance up.

DLSS 4 quality = slower than DLSS 3 quality, looks a lot better
DLSS 4 balanced = roughly same fps as DLSS 3 quality, but still looks better

Now this is in general. In DCS itself, I may have enough excess performance that I use DLSS 4 quality, but again I had been using DLSS 3 DLAA before.

For those who don’t know, those settings dictate the underlying resolution that is upscaled by the AI to your resolution. At DLAA, it uses your native resolution at 100%. Quality = 66% res, balanced = 50%, performance = 33%, ultra performance = 25%, roughly.
So at 1440p DLAA is 1440, quality is 1080, balanced is 720, perf is ~540, ultra perf is ~360. If you use 4k, shift all those to the left. If you use 1080, to the right.

Well I was running it and it did help a little bit for me but looked pretty wierd. I will try and set the G2 to 100% Rez and then try to use DLSS and see what happens maybe it just looks wierd as I already have my native rez down a bit…

Man I tried all settings with DLSS it just looks worse the lower I go with the settings and barely runs better…

I am wondering if I made a mistake getting a core ultra and not getting an AMD 9800x3d??

Without a better GPU with more VRAM there’s not much of a difference. The 9800X3D will be a little faster in games with better 1% lows (less stutter) but as we mentioned multiple times in this thread, in your case the GPU is 100% the limiting factor
