Tested…no dead pixels! Yay!
34” AW3418DW Alienware Curved monitor…picked it up from the recent refurb sale for a few hundred off, at the cost of a more limited warranty though. We’ll see how that works out.

When you get your second Rift, I’ll send you my address.
You will have to battle my son for it. He’s small though - you have good odds. And if you throw a Nintendo Switch gift card an/or a chocolate bar at him, I’ve found distraction generally works. It’s the reason I’ve put on so much weight the past few years…taking candy from a baby, is really very much like taking candy from a baby.
As expected, the reality failed to live up to the hype!
Debbie Downer day, man…
Why isn’t he being placated with the first Rift?
Thats very nice, is it 4k ? I guess for watching movies with the family it will be ideal but what about your flight sims and the rift ? Do you do any 2d flying now. My old Dell 24" monitor needs replaced, it has green vertical lines down one side so make sure you let us know how it performs
and let us know when you order the Stetson ![]()
You had a mountain lake packed into a window and shipped to you from… Texas?
I bet the shipping cost for that was ridiculous!
Oooooooh…I see, you didn’t want the FIRST Rift…you actually wanted me to send you my son so I could fully enjoy the second Rift…! Super! I don’t know what shipping is going to be, but I conveniently have this huge monitor box to package him in. Put a couple air holes in it, throw in a bag of combos and a pee jar and he’ll be fine. Don’t feed him after midnight.
The mountain lake actually flew in to Texas from Alaska. Something something distribution center… The water is delicious!
That is a sweet lookin’ monitor!
Watching the Star Wars: TFA movie trailer in ultra-widescreen was awesome. I can see I’m gonna be spending some 2 - 4 AM shifts down here watching movies. Yawn…

I don’t think so. 3440 x 1440 doesn’t make it 4K. And yes, I do a lot of 2D flying still for many reasons.
Congratulations @BeachAV8R. Great addition to your sim rig. It takes a few days to adjust to the high resolution, but once your mind has made the switch, lessor monitors seem inadequate. I never thought that I’d say this about an Acer product, but I’m loving my 34” Predator. It looks surprisingly similar to yours.
It looks really nice @BeachAV8R and sounds like a good deal.
For years I had the 3 wide monitors thingy, all set up in a line. I just like the huge desktop width in Windows, even if it meant that my neck gets thick with having to look left/right a lot. It was good in things like Eyefinity for space/driving games, especially with TrackIR. Wide support in games was always sort of variable though. After the wee VR fad though and the kids gradually wanting better PC stuff (are you using that big monitor Dad?), I’m down to two misfit 1920x1080 monitors now in a dual set-up - as I think the Rift took my last spare HDMI on the home PC.
I think 4k (or rather the 16:9 TV version) is 3840 × 2160, so you’re not far off.
Yeah - I can already see how there is more presence with the width. I’ll have to fiddle with cockpit FOVs and seat positions I’m sure, but I like what I’ve seen so far.
I thought this was you…!
I can see I’m still going to need an “aux” monitor off to the side. I’m not sure if I can repurpose one of my 27" ViewSonics though…they would be too big for the purpose. How badly would my wife freak out if I mounted another 34" ultra-wide vertically next to this one?

I hate to think what your FPS is like using Orbx scenery in P3D. oh boy.
