Just a headsup.
So this only affects 24H2 or does it also affect 23H2? I am still on 23H2 becasue I need WMR for my Reverb G2
While restarting the PC makes the SSD visible again, the issue seems to occur again as soon as a large data transfer is performed again.
Out of the 21 drives tested, it was found that 12 of them became inaccessible, but only the Western Digital SA510 2TB could not be recovered, even after a reboot. This indicates that the issue seems to impact SSDs with multiple types of SSD controllers.
this is another example of the mood from devs/gatekeepers with nasa computers nowadays: if your pc can’t afford, buy a new one…hardware is cheap nowadays…
I’m not against evolution, but this kind of behaviour without respect of current users is disgusting, specially when many of this improvements that will struggle your pc, are under quality bloat libraries that will only put round corners or change the background color to improve your experience…
You can thank Satya Nadella for firing the entire Windows QA team. This is what doing QA at the customer looks like. It has nothing to do with devs being arrogant or out of touch, it is a conscious decision to put shareholder value over user experience.
i talked in global way not specific only to this microsoft situation. When i say devs is all dev department, that in indie games is real devs coders, and in big companies, it cross many deparments and directors and decision makers that take part of development process directly or indirectly.
Its like, lets do in unreal 5, haaaa you should have a fast ssd or you have stutters, haaaa you should have bios settings change and win11 only because our anticheat working (that even with that proved to be faulty), … or many updates or netflix, whatsapp, etc etc that until a specific update it works amazingly well in some hardware and only to have a new interface with a more cute gui it stops compatability…
Adding a link to my thread as it seems I was a victim of this Win Update…
seems like 24H2 . from the article :
Windows 11 24H2 KB5063878 or the previously released KB5062660 updates
now , how can I find out if I have those installed ( apart from breaking ssd ) ?
Update history in Quick search
cool thx . cant see the numbers in the list . I paused the updates few days ago because was on slow connection . maybe that saved me from installing it ?
