Man, I can’t believe how much better the VR experience is in LMU now. I launched it with the usual +VR switch in Steam last night and it was completely seamless. None of the peering under the headset to get back to the game menus.
I’m still tiptoeing around COTA, but it’s beautifully rendered. It was always there, but I love how the Caddy Hybrid powerplant starts and sounds. Great stuff from Studio 397.
This is the current CO-OP schedule. Ends 29 October.
If anyone is up for some co-op racing, let us know. The person registering/setting up the race, needs to have the drivers on their Steam list in order to send the “invite” in game. I’ve got most of ya’ll add, but feel free to add me to your list: chazflyz . It’s also listed on my mudspike profile by clicking on the profile pic.
As of now, I prefer GTE racing. Corvette, but I’ll race any GTE car.
Few things to note:
You can practice all you want before your stint. (There is a practice
button.)
Saving race progress can only be accomplished during a pit stop.
You can Pause all you want during your stint to take a break.
AI difficulty (for your stint) can be changed any time before your stint(s). Set it to 0 if need be! I’m at 93%. Best way to find your AI difficulty is load up a RACE WEEKEND and adjust via the game settings.
GTE cars can drive about 42-45 minutes on a tank of gas.
I’ll test some of the GT cars tonight, but happy to drive the Corvette or any other. I probably have the most laps at Spa, but Ok driving the rest except for Cota. I’ll need lots of time practicing there, since many of the turns are hidden, at least in a GTP car.
SOB… just when we got a proper, officially licensed endurance sports car sim and things have been picking up with new DLC, Co-Op mode, etc…
Well, enjoy it while you can. Hopefully it doesn’t go to EA ( Electronic Arts) cuz that would certainly kill it off.
Yea…total Bummer…I kinda thought things were going wrong with the Sale of a season Pass and DLC content before the game was out of EA.
All We can do is hope for a buyer who sees the greatness in the Sim that We Do.
You three have summed up my feelings exactly. I have to say that I am pissed that this has been announced less than three weeks after I bought the season pass, which means that technically I am never (very, very unlikely) to see stuff I thought I ‘owned’ but was just waiting on delivery, e.g. the new GT3 cars…
Just as long as I can keep playing it as is, I will be OK with it. If the licence is transferred and it gets bricked until I pay some new company, then it is rage quit time… And God no, please not EA!
It’s always bad when there’s less options to chose from, be it flight sims, fps or racing sims.
Having said that, Automobilista 2 came out with endurance cars and tracks and the next DLC will also be endurance focused. Not the same, but maybe could lessen the sting.
This has gotten to me the most, before they even had basic functioning AI and save state functionality in the sim they went ‘hah! DLC!’. And I got it on release into EA to support the development because I really want to see this work out for them… I quite like rF2 as well and S397 is doing the best they can. I don’t have much faith in MSG though so no surprise this is happening, they’ve been on the chopping block for two years now.
I am quite happy AMS2 is doing so well, to me it’s one of the best vintage sims right now competing only in that market with Power and Glory and Grand Prix Legends.
I’ve got a few Co-op races under the belt with various drivers. I’ve been driving with individuals from France, Czech, Germany and England. It has run quite well with no obvious game breaking red flags. However, on the menu/administrative side there are/were some issues, but most of those have apparently been dealt with in the big patch that was pushed yesterday.
One of the previous bugs was drivers not scored/credit as driven their stints. Here is our result from 6 hours at Imola and it shows Florent supposedly doing almost all of the driving… despite me driven nearly 2 hours in the rain!
Another bug that I’m not sure if it has been addressed is: during your stint, you can restart your stint for whatever reason, but more than half of the time the AI will not pit and eventually run out of fuel.
All in all, this co-op mode has been very fun. Looking forward to its growth and evolution in LMU.
This is their first true massive update. A TON of new content. Video is definitely worth listening to.
There is a bit of grumbling and some assumptions on the internets regarding the “online subscriptions” yet people haven’t actually listened to the video. LMU is not going to a strict pay-to-race model (like iRacing). The new online subscription model basically adds online racing/championship options like iRacing ranked races/series. It is geared for more of the serious/dedicated simracers that want more online competition. The current “free” racing model (daily fixed and open setup races and weekly special races which rotate every Tuesday) that has always been there since day 1 is still there and nothing changes.
So if you don’t race online, you don’t lose anything and this isn’t some pay to win option either. In the end, Studio 397 needs to pay the development and server bills and this is a way to mitigate those costs until they get proper funding from a new investor(s).
I was up early. Put in a solid session with some of the LMGT3 cars. I’m sold. Updated tire model will require some adjustments. Cold tires really show their lack of grip during the first couple of laps so go easy.
