Great. I need to drag my butt out of the Phantom and into a race car this week. Glad to see the 2024 liveries, replay improvements, and other changes.

Question Are any of You Guys using The VR work around? If so…Is it worth it? :face_with_monocle:

I’ve only driven maybe 3 or 4 times for a total of 20-30 minutes in VR. I have an HP G2. For it being “unsupported”, at the moment, it runs pretty good. The 3D cockpit is very cool especially the Prototypes.
I think your mileage will vary with GPU, in-game settings, HMD resolution. I think the devs are getting closer to VR implementation as they continue to optimize the game and graphics.

This is from 4 June. A look ahead/mini roadmap for Le Mans Ultimate. The future looks great for this sim

DLC, 2024 content, Season Pass

  • The first of the 2024 paid DLC packs is expected to go on sale next month and will include Imola (Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola) and further content to be announced closer to release.

  • The 2024 content will be spilt across four individual packs, including the July drop, and will also be offered as a 2024 Season Pass bundling all paid content at a discounted rate. In total, it will include a further four Hypercars, four new circuits and seven GT3 cars.

  • Wondering why only seven GT3 cars when there are nine currently on the FIA WEC grid? We’re gifting two free GT3 cars to all Early Access players, so everyone can experience the latest category in the championship. We’ll also be updating the LMP2 cars with the liveries from the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans – however, both the first GT3 cars and the liveries are not expected to be available until right at the end of the year as before then we’ll be completing the mouth-watering Hypercar grid with the new manufacturers.

  • Regardless of whether or not you purchase any 2024 packs, you’ll be able to race against the 2024 grid in Le Mans Ultimate. Further information on pricing for individual packs, content and the discounted Season Pass will be made available ahead of the first release.

Here are some LMU pro tips. Just like DCS, after every update, verify the files on Steam (equivalent to DCS Repair) and clear the shaders. If you have been experiencing lower fps, stuttering or CTDs, clearing the cache has done wonders for many.

Verify the integrity of the files after you update. Right click on Le Mans Ultimate in your Steam Collection and select Properties. This menu will pop up

Select Verify integrity of game files. It will run a quick scan of the files and automatically download the files to fix any corrupt files.

Clearing the cache

Go to:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log\Shaders\dynamic.cache (delete the file)
Then launch the game.

Just like DCS, the first load into a race weekend will be slow as it recompiles the shaders. Once in, exit back to desktop and relaunch. Subsequent loads should be quicker.

Ok, one more quick PSA. :upside_down_face: I think we’re getting close to co-op driver swap racing. There are 3 new Steam achievements that specifically address co-op/shared driving.

2 weeks!

Oh that’s a huge thing!

I just can’t understand why native VR isn’t supported yet…and why it’s not a high priority for the game developers?

While I agree, the sim racing community on Twitch seems to have moved back to big screens so they don’t have the seasickness issue for their audience, and they can do the facecam.

Yes, it’s worse for us normies who bought a headset instead of three gigantic monitors… but I can understand why it’s not priority number one for them.

I wish that VR wasn’t so damn difficult capture without the shakes. Sometimes it actually looks accurate, like when capturing F1 FPV. But most of the time, it’s just a PITA. To bad, because VR is such a superior driving and flying experience. In race sims, it solves any depth perception issues one might have. I definitely brake deeper in VR.

I wish that I hadn’t bought the DLC that was released back in June(?). The 2024 bundle looks like the smart buy.

Same, and I find it a lot easier to consistantly hit the apex.

Yeah, same. I grabbed the Lambo when it was released as well. A bit miffed I that they then release a ‘season pass’ soon after, but meh… it’s only money.

Hey all it’s been a minute. Anyways, LMU received a massive update earlier today. DLC pack #2 and many updates/fixes. Some of the big items are CO-OP racing (up to 3 human drivers vs AI), Save and Load for Race Weekend (single player), Circuit of the Americas (COTA) track, 2024 liveries, and Initial release of 2 Hypercars: Alpine A424 LMDh and Isotta Franschini TIPO6-C LMH.

Full update notes here: Le Mans Ultimate - September 2024 - Update #2 - Public Release Notes - Steam News

The CO-OP mode is the hot item. Up to 3 human drivers can form a team and race against the AI in weekly events. As of now, there are 3 events and they rotate weekly every Tuesday I believe. A 2, 3 and 6 hours race, all different tracks. The best part is during the race setup, you set the AI difficulty to YOUR preference/race pace and the game adjusts accordingly when you hop in the car for your stint. When you finish your stint (ideally near an empty tank and you have stopped in your pit box), you select the option to save and driver swap. The next driver can takeover at their leisure. Obviously this is a great feature considering we all live in different timezones.

Once you complete the race, you are assigned points based on your finishing position, AI difficulty setting, passing, incidents, etc. The points are put on a global leaderboard which is the only “human vs. human” portion of co-op mode.

If anyone is interested in giving this a go, let me know. :racing_car:

They’ve really put a lot of thought into how the driver swaps will work, haven’t they!

Xmas flight is soaking up 90% of my ‘game’ time at the moment.

Once that’s done and I reconfigure my simpit from planes to cars (not that it takes a lot of time, it is just a PITA), for sure I would be keen to give it a try.

Wow, that’s cool. So like a rally. Drive it when you have time. I’d definitely be interested in giving that a go. I need to get the DLC and get back up to speed with LMU.

It appears they gave VR some love aswell…although not full native support they did manage to add things[HUD] into The VR work around…updating now :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes sir. I put in a few VR laps and the image quality is MUCH improved with MSAA added and smoothing out the jaggies. Of course, your mileage will vary. I’ve got a 4090 and HP G2. In-game settings were mostly Ultra. Was smooth even in heavy traffic such as the start of a race.

As for getting some co-op races going, I can start a separate thread so we can discuss race settings and working through the UI. The person registering and setting up the race will need to add those drivers to their Steam friends list. I’ve got many of the ‘Spikers on Steam so far. We’ll chat soon.
