Yes, I thought the same when I flew the MAD-FSE flight in the Caravan and thought the margins were slimmer…and probably WAY more realistic and encouraging efficiency and carefully choosing the route, rental rate, and load.
It is…a grind. I really enjoyed my MAD-FSE Caravan flight…it gave me a glimmer of what might be possible…haha…
How do you find Pilot2ATC? I looks interesting but, and I know I am being dense here, the website looks like it is from the 80s. Are there semi-regular updates? I am also somewhat concerned that it isn’t (as) usable in VR?
Alrighty…back in the saddle! Hauling two small loads (300 lbs. each) (double REP trip!) down to 53WA…which was not in my GTN 750 database. The really nice thing about the RXP GTN 750 is that it is super quick to add a custom waypoint. Just look up the airfield on Airnav or something, find the lat/long…and plug it in. Takes 30 seconds.
Doing a ton of out and backs from KEAT today since I’m catching up to stuff online anyway. Weather in KEAT is a high overcast, enough to cover the surrounding mountains - so use caution getting in and out. I went ahead and shot the RNAV approach to get in a few times just to give me the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing where I am…
I circled around almost 10 times, just couldn’t tell where the runway was. Really out of patience, I decided to land on that narrow stripe like area in the middle of that cam shape land. Had to buzz the tower… urhmm… barn, or warehouse, or whatever, to vent my frustration.
edit: not sure how to get it to load the right version of the 172 haha. It didn’t load my G1000 version, but it didn’t load the bush variant either. I tried a few times, and got frustrated with it, so just flew it this way. AH didn’t seem to care. I’m guessing it’s a type mismatch between what I imported and what you’ve got set @BeachAV8R
I was thinking Orbx put these airliners there as a response to the COVID19 in their latest update. Too lazy to go around, I just landed on the taxiway. I only checked the airport diagram afterwards, and this runway is indefinitely closed.
That feeling when you are in a /A airplane and you are just using VOR radials and DME overlayed on a sectional map to determine your position…and you are letting down through a solid undercast into mountainous territory…and you end up where you thought you should be…
Doing a couple doubled up trips tonight - easy stuff from Pullman up to Deer Park (KDEW) - big runways with approaches…no stress/no mess. Would like to make a couple runs into the Idaho backcountry too though tonight. Doing what I can to enjoy this Husky because I know it won’t be in the hangar much longer…!
Hmm…well, I had to bite the bullet and send my AI pilot to finish the run for me because I just got paged to fly for real and I don’t want to lose the REP for not having completed the flight in time. So if you are looking for the 172 Bush at Pullman - it might be being flown by my AI (not sure how that works). I hope she doesn’t crash it…she’s a newb…
Did a little cargo flight for the VA from Quincy 80T to Port Elsner “airport” 75WA which is very hard to spot and in a very tight area to approach. I also flew very very close to a thunderstorm which was a little worrying but I made it alive!
Dropped two loads in 8S4 and then made the 3 mile hope over to Joseph (KJSY) to take a load through Lewiston on the way back to Pullman. I also have a return load to Pullman out of 8S4…so a nice 4-trip out and back.
I highly recommend dropping into Joseph (KJSY)…the scenery of the mountains looming overhead is fantastic…
