Bummer. Looks like Google got it a bit better, though theirs shows it when it was still getting updated.

So a pretty quick and dirty tour up from Melbourne to the the Cape. I did not continue past toward KSC…I’ll try to get by there tomorrow morning…

So I saw these lumps in the bay and they were having trouble resolving themselves as the data downloaded. They took forever to actually load the textures…and they became mangroves I think. It makes you wonder if the reflectivity of whatever is measuring them (in real life) sees them as complex shapes with tons of facets that take up a lot of data…and then the streaming has to take that into account. I dunno…just a theory…

This whole area is obviously pretty high resolution radarphotogrametryliciousononmy because things look pretty good…

Another gaggle of cruise ships…there must be a ship object that is replacing something…like @Navynuke99 alluded to…a ferry or something. Or maybe it is just a certain size ship.

Space X pad…

More tomorrow…gotta get some sleep…

Since it is streaming data…I’d guess that as better and more data comes available that things could get updated to look better. I mean, if it really is AI looking at data…you’d think the process could be largely automated. Without a subscription though…I still wonder how/who is subsidizing the sending of so much data…

two way street I imagine. Who knows what kind of marketing algorithm works on which airports/areas you fly the most at. #bigbrother #nothingisfree

You just gave Asobo the idea of streaming ads to the billboards on the side of every MSFS road. Banner planes towing advertising banners at the beaches. Buses with advertisements. Skywriting airplanes with advertisements. The world really will feel real!

MSFS2020 Roadmap is looking good! Helicopter and possible glider DLCs!

Sounds good.
I don’t mind paying for helicopter and glider support if it is done well.

Yeah, I wonder how the VAB and the missile park and the Saturn V complex turned out.

The NOTU basin is a bit flat there (FS 176 just above the right wing), the real thing has some high berms, but a lot of the rest looks good. It’s nice seeing my old stomping grounds (2002-2012) again.

FS174 is Cocoa Beach High School and 170 is of course Patrick AFB with the Pineda Causeway heading to the mainland on the left and US1 along the upper right on the Atlantic. I got to watch the Blue Angels practice for over an hour during lunch there in 2003 I think. It was the day before the air show and while tons of planes like AV-8s and even a B-1B flew in, the 2 solo hornets were flying up and down the Banana River…and there were no crowds, just me and half a dozen other guys from IT eating lunch!

The port can look like that crowded on a Friday or Saturday at 5PM. A whole convoy of ships all sail out–Disney, Carnival, RCL, Norwegian, and of course the casino cruises.

Well, until March they did anyway.

Nice!. That’s the first (hopefully) un-annoying use of advertising I’ve heard in a long time!

See what you mean re the cockpit ‘iris’ lighting. One oddity here, is the screens don’t appear backlit; the lighting appears to cast over them the same as any other surface. Are there any brightness/contrast settings to fiddle with on the screens themselves?

Also sounds like that DLC might be the return of missions as well:
“It expects the paid DLC to include a selection of helicopters, helipads, playable missions, and other luxuries beyond the raw implementation.” (Emphasis mine)

“After launch, the team plans to explore formal missions or a career system designed to provide additional guidance beyond its basic flight lesson systems.”

I so want to be a hater. I want to point out the flaws; to highlight how once again the arrogance of Microsoft has created (or rather funded) another bloated blunder. But it’s just so damn beautiful. X-Plane has another year. For now, they are ahead on helicopters, perhaps the flight model and VR. But unless LR is able to pull off a coup I don’t see how they can compete. Some of you have the mental dexterity to keep X-Plane, Prepar3d and that other one I can never remember all on the same rig. I can’t. One genre/One sim. I am shedding a tear already.

it’s all converted by top down only textures and height maps.

The PT-6 / turboprop modeling is pretty awful compared to what you’d expect to see in real life. For some reason…torque and fuel flow go UP as you climb. :upside_down_face:

And the prop RPM cannot be adjusted. So there’s that. :see_no_evil:

Did you check all the options for assistance/reality stuff?
There‘s a whole page of those somewhere.
