Looks like all the “hopes” of it dropping to a cat 2/3 before landfall were for naught.
We won’t have surge to deal with here, at least.
Ya, but got lucky on this one. Just wind and rain, no damage, first time ever never lost power. We were just on the outer bands. The Tampa area got the worst of it, just North.
Thanks all.
Looked like it got a bit of an injection of dry air and some shear that sorta knocked it down a few pegs. Had it come ashore with that pinhole eye…I can’t imagine… Initial reports seem that it lost steam quickly. I’m sure the damage is insane…but perhaps not catastrophic…
Yeah I also watched it a bit, and while it is apparently a Category 1 now it definitely looked scary when it reached the coast.
And even a Cat1 is still a Hurricane, so there is some damage, especially because of the flooding I guess.
Happy that 'yall were spared the worst and overall it wasn’t as bad as expected… I’m a glass half full type of guy.
Yeah, by the time it crossed the coast it was milder than some regular summer storms, let alone a few of the worst tropical storms we had 15 years ago.
Lots of wind, but very dry. Big concern was tornados, they were all up and down the east coast and we had multiple warnings but none came closer than about 15 miles to me.
I just hope that was the last one of the season.
