Mod planes and multiplayer in DCS

What good is it to have awsome talented people that graciously make us AWSOME plane mods if no one allows them in any of the multiplayer servers???

Most servers have the checkbox ticked for pure client. Mainly to avoid cheating for pvp.
Also most mods are not particularly good. For instance the F22 mod uses the flaming cliffs F15 cockpit and not a purpose made cockpit for the mod. Exceptions to this are the skyhawk, the Italian marcheti and the fabulous C130 mod.
So if you want to join MP fly the F15 as the cockpit is familiar to you and weapons delivery is also the same. The only difference is the Charlie ammraams instead of the mod made delta variant.
Reading your other thread I would respectfully suggest forgetting mods and concentrate on learning a plane that will be available on most servers and fly mods in SP

Another thing that @Cib didn’t mention is barrier to entry. Most people won’t bother to install mods just to fly on a server so for public servers it is not really option.

This is different when you fly in a squadron. They often do use some mods. Popular ones are the aforementioned C-130 and A-4 Skyhawk mods but more commonly it’s small stuff like the 476th range targets which are pretty useful for creating a realistic training environment on Nevada for example.

I hope it doesn’t put you off. I enjoy mods and with my work taking up so much time when the other guys are flying I tend to pop onto game In the afternoon and sometimes load a mod up for variety. I currently use some ai ww 2 mods to shoot at with my mosquito

I’ve basically become a SP only person again, there are so many solid and excellent mods that bring a lot of life to the game but they just aren’t gonna work with multiplayer. That and I’ve never had a smooth or stable experience with DCS mp…
