That looks incredibly useful if cockpit button selection is finicky

Fair Isle in reality.

On the east of the runway is the ‘terminal’ shed. You can see the track that leads from the airport to the main ‘road/track’ running NS along the island. Where the two meet, on the east of the main road is the wreck of a German He111. Shot down over the island of Foula and crashed on Fair Isle.

Short final Fair Isle

London Gliding Club’s airfield name is Dunstable Downs’. Overlooked by the ridge which is a great place to picnic within yards of soaring gliders, hang gliders and parachutes.

Darley Moor is a ex WW2 airfield on which there is also a grass runway
image

Dornoch is my favourite grass airfield. Just a few sand dunes from the sea and a great beach Highland Aero Club have a fly in bbq every year. It is also the smoothest flattest grass I have ever landed on.
image

Easterton is a very friendly gliding club site west of Elgin and near RAF Lossiemouth.

Fair Isle I have already written about on this thread.

Insch is a great genuine farm strip west of Aberdeen with a wonderful clubhouse paid for by the EU. A C172 once landed on the farmers wifes car roof. Bounced off and landed ok. The pilot was prosecuted for endangerment and lost. Despite the large signs telling the car driver to give way to aircraft

Nice looking Gap/Tallard (LFNA). I seem to recall some stages of the Tour de France either crossing near to this airfield or one stage might even have finished on the runway this year or last…

WHAT’S IN THE BOX

An Awesome Experience

Bush machines are extreme machines, often pushed to the edge of their performance envelopes. To give you the most authentic STOL experience possible, we knew from the start that the flight model had to be pushed to extremes as well.

To this end it took well over 150 hours of research, engineering and test flights to tune all aspects of the model to satisfaction, always supported by actual Zlin Aviation POH data and Rotax engine specifications. Performance is frequently evaluated by 2 seasoned pilots with experience in similar planes.

Some of the highlights:

  • Flight model parameters like parasite drag, induced drag, flap drag and lift, moment of inertia along all axis, P-factor, propwash, torque, weather vaning, gyroscopic precession and more have been finely tuned.
  • The CG has been reworked by correctly positioning all simulated masses in 3D space, resulting into a stable aircraft and a natural feeling flight experience.
  • Ground handling is what you would expect from a purpose-built backcountry aircraft: Lift your tail, propwash left and right, brake on a dime.
  • Vortex Generators on wing and tail are accurately simulated, delaying stalls and enabling those slow STOL approaches.
  • Aerodynamic pressure on control surfaces at high speeds is correctly represented giving you full control of the aircraft at all velocities.
  • Two auxiliary fuels tanks of 10gal each were installed giving you that extra range when you need it.
  • Parking brakes were added (use a keybind to control).

More STOL stuff:

  • A 3rd monster flap setting has been added (60 degrees!) so you can fly slower approaches, with higher sink rates, giving you 15ft landing bragging rights.
  • The mains were moved forward a bit so you can (almost) safely prime the brakes before touch down.
  • Flaps move faster so you can pump them for short take offs and retract them at touchdown for maximum braking power.

In the description, the author actually links a Rotax 915iS mod for the default JMB VL-3

So many goodies out there :+1: Worth checking are also the Working Titles mods for the stock glass cockpit.

Nice looking Kenai, Alaska scenery. A bit rich for my blood at €18.50 though…probably wait to see if it comes down…

Taburet…generally…puts out a lot of low hanging fruit garbage. BUT…every once in awhile, they put out something OK. This looks OK. Maybe. I don’t own it, but it looks OK. Looks like a fun little airport…

Taburet… :-/

I always say it with that edge to my voice…similar to the way Seinfeld says “NEWMAN!”

ohhh man, you are the few that i know that knows Seinfeld. Its a Larry David masterpiece. I strongly recommend you also see “curb your enthusiasm” another master piece from the same guy that created Seinfeld serie. Sorry this offtopic, but i couldn’t resist
The curb your enthusiasm you can get it on dvd or watch it on HBO service (competitor of netflix).

Ha…me and my wife are always making Seinfeld jokes. That episode where the girl he was dating would look stunning in some light, and like a troll in other light…had us in stitches and we reference it all the time.
