I think we have been doing virtual tourism here since the first Mudspike Christmas Trek… talking of which… @BeachAV8R ![]()
Yes indeed, I can’t wait to start planning now we have msfs I enjoyed it with xplane but excited about doing it with my new favourite. Plus be nice to fly past other members if we arr9at similar times ![]()
Some reviews and drama…
The mountainrange ”The Seven Sisters”.
Yes, they resemble vortex generators…because that’s what they do…!
I’m up for suggestions… Kiribati didn’t seem too popular…

How about Port Stanley?
The one in Canada or the Falklands one?
I was thinking of the Falkland Islands Port Stanley.
The Bird Dog was calling to me…
So, what’s it like? Well, it is quite fun to fly but more of an Alpha than a finished product. In it’s present state, $30 is a bit steep IMHO, but it certainly has potential and I am sure it will be a favorite to fly in VR when we get that. I’m not going to rag on it too much but I definitely recommend waiting awhile before picking it up unless you really are drawn to it.
Pro’s:
It flies nicely.
Looks good.
Quite a few liveries.
3 versions (Standard, Tundra and Amphibian)
It’s ground handling is very benign.
Con’s
There are quite a few switches that are not working, including the battery switch. The same goes for the start button. To start the engine, you just make sure the mixture is rich and turn the magneto switch to both.
Doors and windows don’t open.
Prop disc is a bit of a mess when viewed from the cockpit.
It’s ground handling is very benign.
Love the Port Stanley idea @PaulRix that would be a great trip.
I wonder if a Dakota or fokker f50 can make that.
We need some sort of tanker…a really cool looking one. With a T tail and sort of Buck Rogers look so it would look good for the pictures…we should also use one with a proven ability to get aircraft to the islands as to not ruin the flights.
Hmmmmm. Wonder which one we should use.
I guess the idea would be to deliver 21,000 lb of “treats” to Port Stanley??
Usually on a Mudspike Xmas flight, you do land at the target airfield though. ![]()
I went via the Falklands on the only Xmas flight I completed and had a look at Port Stanley, though landed at the Mount Pleasant RAF base as it was longer and I was in the A400.

Kinda weird and soothing really ![]()
I have the Kelona (CYLW) scenery, which I am going to compare to the X-Plane version at some point. Other than that, I am waiting for things to stabilize before I ‘invest’ in any other addons. I am really interested in seeing some quality 3rd party complex aircraft.
You’re a better man than I for not ragging on it. Reading through the ‘drama’ thread, I think BB is getting what it deserves. I know the flight sim community at large has a rep for getting hung up on the small things, but “Can’t turn on battery or engine via appropriate in-cockpit switches” is far from rivet counting.
I mean, why rush this out? Why not take the time to do it right? If the SDK isn’t in a good place yet, hold your cards till ready. What gun was put to their head that made them do it this way?
I agree completely. Hopefully they will update it soon but it’s fun enough to fly around. Lesson learned though. I don’t intend on buying any more aircraft for MSFS until the SDK is finished and in the hands of the 3rd party devs.
