MSFS Add-Ons & Releases

I watched the entire video earlier today @smithcorp. They went all out with that module. I thought the way they got the sound of the aircraft rolling across the ground was pretty ingenious.

Yep, fantastic towing the aircraft to capture the suspension sounds without having the engine drown them out - will be a must-buy for me, just based on the engine startup sounds, and the walk-around!

I downloaded it but haven’t tried it with the sim yet.

It looks cool though.

I’m still using 3. I have had all the v4 early access versions but had repeated problems with them, so in the end I decided to use v3 again, while keeping v4 installed. I’ll have another go.
Although 3 did seem a bit disorganised until I was used to it, I think it is far more intuitive than v4. I was unable to even get a type rating in v4 beta cos it just wouldn’t let me choose the plane, and I was unable to get any response on their discord to find out how to do it (or if it was a bug). Hopefully won’t be an issue now.

I’ve donated more on this free app than I have paid for any payware add-on, but I’m not paying any more so if he starts charging for extra stuff again, I won’t be getting it. The base app is enough in any case, at the moment.

Available… Now!

Nice!
I like how the small updates keep coming. There are hardly any months without new stuff to play with.

I was hoping to start a new Neofly company in Japan - I normally fly in Crete or New Zealand (my fave) from Hamilton - so many small grass strips to find and try and operate from - but I’d like to give Japan a try.

Does anyone know of a good bush-type flying area there?

I can’t give you any fields off hand, but the western spine of the big island has some amazing mountain flying.

There are a couple of low level routes the are incredibly beautiful, especially in the winter.

Just beware it is Aeroplane Heaven so you know what you’re buying :grinning:

Do I need another radial engine classic?

No.

Will I buy it?

Yes

What kind of a question is that?:rofl:

Son of a… I just got the French flying boat, and fortunately the Trimotor was free. Now I have to learn this beast and the F-15E at the same time.

Closer look…

Well I have to say I am not really impressed by the Stratoliner.

The biggest issue atm is lack of superchargers (and yes, there is other issues). That means that one of the most important advertised advantages of this aircraft in its time - ability to cruise at 20k feet at more than 200mph (which it is also stated in the product manual) is just not there. That makes it pretty much just a 4-engined DC-3

The Stratoliner is encrypted. So while I was able to edit a ton of stuff of the Electra and the DC-3, here I am left with the mercy of MS/AH to fix (or not - like the DC-3 and some other AH products) the issues.

Yeah… I wish did not buy.

I hope it will get some love from MS/AH as the aircraft deserves better.

For $10 I kinda’ was not expecting much more than a pretty face. Anything else is pretty much extra…

I dsagree here with you @HiFlyer

The usual retail price for non-ultra-deluxe-premium customer is not 10 euro. It is 15 euro. Still pretty low in comparison to some 3rd party add-ons but perfectly in-line with other MSFS “inhouse” releases.

And we have definitely seen better in the same price cstegory: An-2, Caribou, V-tail Beech… all had issues with many eventually being addressed.

But it is not the point.

The point is that relatively low price tag should not be used as an excuse for selling broken or mis-marketed product.

It is like saying that if someone is selling a pizza prosciutto for 5 euro, you should not really expect prosciutto on it.

But OK, I will stop complaining and will wait for whether MSFS addresses the Stratoliner issues.

I for one appreciate your reviews/feedbacks guys. definitely puts a little light on these modules.

I have an idea of review format here.
how about creating new topic for particular aircraft where in first post you will write your experiences.
while in the replies will other users add their exps. because there is no way one guy can try/test all the various aspects of a module.

creator of the review topic will then add into the first post, via quotes, the others viewpoints, together with some useful links from elsewhere if useful info was found on other sites.

this way ‘hivemind reviews’ can be created so many different viewpoints can be glued into one article.

@apollon01 keen to try it with Stratoliner?
I understand that it can be quite responsible endeavor to keep the article fresh, following the updates of the module etc.

and maybe this Stratoliner and the like are not best candidates for such format as these modules are simple and without depth. so the added reviewing effort isnt worth it.

duno.
