Additional Mission
With the Fokker VII from England to Karachi 40: Koschi, one of our community creators, just completed a series of journeys for the platform’s “local legends” missions, which focus on a specific airframe type and recreate historic air routes and individual noteworthy flights of the past. His recent work highlights the Fokker F.VII family of aircraft, one of the icons of the Golden Age of Aviation.

One of Koschi’s Fokker F.VII missions, the 1928 aerial expedition from South East England to Karachi (then India) in the Princess Xenia, didn’t make it into the official package release, and we wanted to announce it here, so all can have a chance to enjoy it! Koshi’s route in Princess Xenia, which is retrofit with a modern cockpit and adorned in KLM livery, creatively follows the spirit of the original flight, weaving through some of the most beautiful and fascinating locations in Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Download 40 the mission and enjoy!

OK, I’ll say it.

I’ve been looking forward to that little Fokker for a long time!

Version 1.22.2.0 is in the Microsoft Store (or I guess Steam) and clocks in at about a 1.88GB download patch.

Aussie content is about 2.51GB.

I know graphics are the devil, and that MSFS will never be a true real sim for true real simmers, but damn, that Fenix cockpit looks crazy good:

It’s early days with MSFS. It already looks amazing. I have confidence that smart people will do much with the platform. Look at what the A-4C and UH-60 mod teams have done for DCS without having the SDK access.

Yes, but does it look real…?

DC DESIGNS CONCORDE PRICING REVEALED + XBOX LAUNCH CONFIRMED!

FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE: ( All images are WIP )

First off this week, I’d like to thank the hundreds ( thousands? ) of commenters both here and elsewhere on the Internet for all the hugely enthusiastic and excited comments on the short Concorde preview video I released last week. I was genuinely surprised by the scale of the reaction, which has given me great confidence going forward with the project.

This week, there has been huge ( and I mean really huge ) work performed not by me, but by CodenameJack, who has created Concorde’s immense fuel network system in MSFS to include all 13 tanks, 160 connecting fuel lines, 38 pumps and 34 valves.

Every last one of them is connected to the relevant switches on the engineer’s panel, rendering the system fully operational in the sim. It’s hard to describe what a mammoth task that has been for him. Work is now progressing on Concorde’s equally vast electrical and hydraulic systems so that they can also be connected up to the relevant animations, further increasing the realism possible with this aircraft.

While CodenameJack was achieving all that, I built Concorde’s toilet!

To be more accurate, I worked largely on the interior this week as I needed a brief break from the complexity of the flight deck. I have built and textured much of the forward passenger cabin, the entrance area, the forward galley and the “tunnel” that leads to the cockpit.
There remains much to do here so it’s still very much WIP, but there have been many requests for an interior that the user can “walk” through so I thought it was about time to share some proper images of the work done so far.

There will be a few features including working flight deck and rest-room doors, handles, things like that, but as this is not Passenger Cabin Simulator, I’m not intending to go into absolute detail here, just a good rendition of Concorde’s interior to make users feel at home.

Next week, work will continue on finishing the interior and also connecting up all those electrical and hydraulic systems on the flight deck. There is still some custom coding to be done, a few instruments remain to be animated on some of the panels, and the interior lighting needs to be added before Concorde will be ready for final testing. While that testing is underway, I will work on improving the exterior model / textures while writing the manual.

We have also have agreed the pricing for Concorde! The cost will be £27.99 / $39.99 / €34.95 and worldwide equivalents. In addition, if you’re already a DCD Concorde owner in Prepar3D and want to upgrade to MSFS, the price will be less at £23.99, $35.99 and €29.95.

On a final note, there have been some concerns lately about complex airliners in MSFS that have for one reason or another been held back from a console release due to functionality problems. Concorde is entirely internally coded, without the use of WASM gauges, so there should be no issues with its functionality on the console.

That’s it for this week. Happy Friday!

Well, I think I’ve found my bird for next year’s Christmas Trek…

Looks great!

It’s sleek, but there’s something about this whole plane that feels dated. Especially when you see the cockpit. It looks like something you would see on one of the fictional planes in Thunderbirds or one of Jerry Andersons other shows

Avionics wise, it is over 50 years old…so yes, it’s dated. It comes from a time when performance and prestige outweighed the need to be efficient and profitable. They were also not too worried about keeping the airport neighbors happy when it came to noise levels. Maximizing profit, fuel efficiency and noise abatement are a big deal these days.

That sounds like exactly my kind of aircraft!

The horror for a maintenance shop.

I remember the Eastern mechanics always troubleshooting the TriStar’s multiplex system. If memory serves, most of the cabin’s call system lights, which indicated when the cockpit crew, passengers, or lavatories needed attention, the in-flight entertainment, including movie, music, and PA to overhead speakers, passenger’s seats, lavatories, below deck galley, and crew phones at each of the 8 doors and galley, all ran through the same wire bundles. There was a magic box in the forward cabin replete with various colored lights that the mechanics would sometimes stand in front of, befuddled by what they viewed, often accompanied by under-breath swearing, at which often the best remedy was a palm slap or hammer tap.
