MSFS Add-Ons & Releases

Yeah you’re absolutely right, I forgot they like to stir the pot a bit especially with Asobo.

I’d definitely pay $7 for a mod to replace the default jetways, they’ve always left something to be desired. I’ll have to look into this one later but I could absolutely see myself getting it.

Man that Twin Otter is looking pretty good! Might have to add that one to the stable…

talking about the Twotter, I have it the same way, if the plane has some relation to me then I am interested more, but otherwise not so much

…there is one default plane also capable

Handy for that Twin Otter as a place to play and for those wondering where to go after the Falkland Isles?

…although I think cheaper here?

Just a heads-up of gathered links for some freeware vintage planes.

I saw this one on simMarket and well, you know how that usually turns out…

Ant’s Airplanes Drifter 582 Ultralight/Microlight…

It’s a really nice 3D Model…

The engine is nicely detailed.

There are bracing wires everywhere… the texturing is well done on the seats…

It comes with chocks, removable wheel spats, pitot and engine covers.

Nice detail on the tail wheel.

The tablet has several pages with various options, a basic autopilot (obviously not realistic but you don’t have to use it). The GPS unit is on a tiltable mountwhich is a nice touch.

A quick demo flight…

The aircraft handles well enough from what I can tell, and comes with a decent manual.

There are a number of liveries to choose from…

And… there is a float version too! I think I just found the aircraft to fly for the second part of the Lewis and Clark trek.

Also, if you want to try it, there is a free demo version that just removes the extras, but it is perfectly flyable and looks great… Sounds are pretty decent too…

The payware version is a little under $18… I’d say it is well worth that.

A post was merged into an existing topic: MSFS News (2021)

Tonight I was able to fly the test build of the IFT F35 that aims to tackle the CTD issue. They swapped out the HMD display with the HUD from the Asobo Super Hornet. I think this is just a test to see if it makes a difference… well for me at least, it appears to solve the problem. I just flew a 2 hour 25 minute flight in the F35B with two fuel stops without a CTD! Obviously it isn’t ideal to use the Rhino HUD, but if it prevents the CTD’s I will take it.

Not too long ago I posted some pics of the freeware Magister which I thought was pretty good all things considered. Today, the AzurPoly Magister was released on the MSFS Marketplace (strangely it isn’t at simMarket, or OrbX Direct yet). Well, it looked pretty good in the preview videos I watched, so I made some space in my MSFS hangar… :upside_down_face:

There are several liveries available. This is the Dutch Air Force which looks pretty sharp.

As with a lot of early jets, the cockpit is cramped (both of them)…

All strapped in and somebody forgot to remove the engine blanks, pins and chocks.

Thankfully we can take care of that with the tablet. It only has a few functions but is useful nonetheless.

The panel is quite basic. The captions are in French.

much better…back on the extended center line…
Takeoffs are always interesting when you are also trying to take screenshots  .

Tucking up the gear…

Bonus points if you can identify the airport. It’s a new release and I had to get it because I fly in there frequently for work.

I love geopuzzles like that.

I think that airport is…

Carlsbad, CA - McClellan-Palomar Airport (KCRQ)

It looks like the strapped a pair of intakes to a glider, I am highly intrigued.

I think you’re right. Background had hints.

Indeed it is KCRQ… I can see I am going to have to try harder next time… . Carlsbad is one of the more challenging airports I fly into… while not ultra-short at 4800ft you can’t mess around looking for a smooth touchdown. The most challenging part though is that the airspace in this area can get really busy with VFR traffic that isn’t talking to ATC. I have had more TCAS Resolution Advisories (RA’s) going into CRQ than anywhere else I have flown into.

I love them, the ones at Bruntingthorpe cold war jets open days were just gorgeous

Evidently the Magister does have some glider DNA. Even the spoilers look ‘glider-like’…
What I like about it is that it is beautiful because of a certain degree of ugliness… kind of like the Warthog.

It did and I got lucky I think. I saw the Atlantic Aviation hangar and thought ‘that looks like Southern California’, so did a search for facilities they had with just the runway directions 6/24 on their site:

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.atlanticaviation.com+6%2F24+CA

Only two hits and it wasn’t Napa Valley, and then I recognized the Italian flag strips before the threshold on 6. Spent enough hours and money at Lego Land to recognize those hills…

That’s some serious detective work you did there!

For me it was Palomar (and Black) Mountain in the background; I have some great memories of running my S2000 up those roads on group drives.

I need a PC-24 add on now…

This scenery doesn’t really look all that nice though to be honest…
