That’s going to look really nice in the hangar next to the YMF-5.
I usually get it outside marketplace, if possible. ORBX, JustFlight and Simmarket are the usual suspects here. The reason is that the marketplace is terribly slow in getting anything out, updates included.
Having said that, there are of course addons you can’t get anywhere else except the marketplace, with the in-house aircraft being the prime example.
Speaking of which, how is the Fokker? I’ve been pretty absorbed crashing Cessnas into mountain tops in Neofly of late, but I do like vintage….
Dunno. I did not buy that one as I have basically zero interest in it.
But feel free to ask me once the An-2 is out
Dangit Paul, you’re not making it easy on me.
For $15 you can’t really go wrong Ted… It’s a typical Carenado airplane…looks great, flies just fine as long as you stay within the envelope. Systems wise it’s pretty simple - again, typical Carenado.
I’ve honestly not even fully jumped into MSFS since building my new system (I forgot my Windows account login and haven’t been able to be bothered with attempting to recover it yet), but that may change this weekend…
I downloaded the Fokker DR1 and Rolladen Schneider LS4 mods today.
Might not be able to try them today. But they look great now!
I’m just now getting back into MSFS, but was hoping to keep to the marketplace, if only because it makes actually updating easier; don’t have to do the community folder dance with each platform update. Also trying to avoid ‘junking up’ my PC with lots of external apps/programs.
That said, I’m now debating between my next plane being the Twin Otter or the Kodiak. Would get the Otter via the marketplace, as it seems Aerosoft has an app for updating if bought elsewhere, and I’m meh on that. Kodiak would be sim market, which is where I’d keep all my external purchases to ideally.
Kodiak is just awesome. getting it directly from SWS will save you a few $$
The Kodiak is indeed very nicely done. I like the Twin Otter too…it has steam gauges vs the glass panel of the Kodiak. Overall though, I think the Kodiak is more polished at this point. I have a weakness for steam though.
oh absolutely! me too @PaulRix . But I do love the very modern props such as the TBMs and this new ultra modern single engine Kodiak.
Speaking of steam gauges, Im really excited for the BAE 146… oh and the MD80 crossover between the old and new, is also exciting news!
It is an exciting time for MSFS…
PMDG are getting close to releasing the 737…(or one of them at least), the Mad Dog looks great, the Dash 7 will be fun, and yes, the 146 as well… I’d really like Just Flight to give us their VC10 too!
Indeed it is and yes, that Dash 7 will be amazing as it’s a partial release from SWS who created the Kodiak. I remember there was a freeware version in FS9 or earlier and it was one of my favourite planes.
Sad news for you on the VC10 I’m afraid as I received an email from Just Flight saying it was canceled. I’m gutted because this was a childhood favorite of mine!
Canceled for XP11 I thought?
yes, sadly yes…
Thanks guys! Wound up going with the Kody by way of Orbx. The Orbx Central app looks slick, and seems to offer a lot of aircraft choices. I also treated myself to a copy of SkyPark, and have to say so far I’m pleased.
I am a bit hyped for this plane.
Which is weird as I have never even seen one in real life and it isn’t exactly sexy.
BUT:
- I am extremely happy with the JustFlight Turbo Arrow
- old school cockpit
- STOL.
- not too big (smaller than a 737)
- cargo capacity is nice, especially if you fly it in a neofly career or so
- reasonably fast (Mach 0.7)
- ok range if it isn’t too heavy (2000nm)
If this is as well made as the Turbo Arrow it might become the first plane with more than two engines that I’ll ever buy for a flight sim, and the largest plane that I’ll fly for more than a few hours.
I’ve seen those on the ramp. Those things are cool as Hell!
