More FlyingIron Spitfire IX goodness. The Spitfire is simply a thing of elegance and beauty.
You guys probably carry DF steer type equipment and probably some means to talk to ground personnel (police/fire band frequencies?)…
Becker, yup. And a CAP Radio we use to talk to Ground Teams.
I took the Corsair up for a spin this evening. The more I fly it, the more I like it.
Parked at Duxford after the flight.
This is no dainty Spitfire.
I love the soot and oil streaks on this livery…really nicely done.
I was very close to pulling the trigger on this one today. So far I’m holding out. If you post a bunch of excellent screenshots and a glowing report, my resolve will probably crumble.
Interestingly - I was NOT able to get it started. I saw and knew that there were two switches to fire up the APU, but I wasn’t being patient enough with the APU door so was clicking it multiple times…and it must have ended up on CLSD - so was never able to get the APU started. As soon as I discovered that mistake - I was in business.
No real impressions yet…not spent enough time with it. It is very pretty though…and the textures are gorgeous. Spending some time with it tonight so should have a few more impressions later tonight.
I haven’t checked it out in VR yet either…will try to get that done tonight. I think @fearlessfrog has been asking about it a few weeks ago about the readability of the displays in VR. Will report back this evening…
Or…maybe I won’t… I have GOOD intentions whenever I post that I’m going to do something…then the clock magically accelerates to 1.75x and somehow the night disappears and I’m brushing my teeth and wondering why my watch says it is the next day already. I believe that time is a constant (well…I guess we don’t want to go down that road…(particularly at any speed approaching that of the speed of light)) - but is sure doesn’t feel like it…
I hate when that happens.
So much to do and so little time.
Been wringing out the CRJ the past couple of days. I like it. MSFS has its own limitations that all add on developers must contend with, so it is always interesting to see how developers work within the limitations of the platform. The CRJ is definitely very polished and has tons of nice features. The 97% of stuff that works great is great…(this isn’t a review). My only real complaint about it is that it doesn’t track the ILS glideslope well. I’ve tested this multiple times and it dips progressively lower after intercept until it it well outside of any acceptable limit (no deviation below the G/S is acceptable when my hide is on the line…). I’ve seen some notes about it on the Aerosoft forum and they know about it (known issue - intercepting G/S from level flight).
Fun avionics in that the FMC is quite good, but not difficult to use. It is an airliner type FMC, so a bit different architecture than something like the UNS-1, but I think any Airbus type pilot would pick it up with no issues.
The CRJ has neither autothrottles nor VNAV coupling…which is fun - it keeps you on your toes. Chasing the “snowflake” (VNAV guidance) must be done manually for RNAV arrivals and RNAV approaches. It definitely keeps you busy crosschecking charts.
