MSFS - Screenshots

I like the way this FS uses any of the aircraft installed as AI. Sometimes it gets things a bit squiff, but I was really chuffed to look out of the L-39 I had landed and see a Meteor being marshalled on the pan…

Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it.

I bought that Fiat G-91 and now I cannot land at any airport in the world without seeing a 1970s German air force G-91 on the ramp.

I wish I could simply click on checkboxes next to planes (and/or liveries) and thus tell the sim which planes to use for AI und which not to.

Yeah, that’s the “a bit squiff” bit I mentioned! I’m sure we’ve all experienced it - I had Islanders everywhere after buying Black Box’s model.

As I understand it You can enable or disable AI aircraft by changing 2 lines in the corresponding [FLTSIM.X] section for each Livery in the aircraft.cfg file.

Aircraft.cfg in Explorer

Here are 2 examples of where to find the aircraft.cfg file.

U:\MSFS 2020 Packages\Community\cowansim-cowansim-h125_v1.0.2\SimObjects\Airplanes\Helicopter_H125\aircraft.cfg

U:\MSFS 2020 Packages\Community\taog-alouetteiii\SimObjects\Airplanes\Taog_AlouetteIII\aircraft.cfg

I recommend editing the aircraft.cfg with Notepad++

aircraft.cfg in Notepad++

canBeUsedByAITraffic = 1
Changing this to
canBeUsedByAITraffic = 0
should stop the aircraft/livery from being used as parked.

isAirTraffic = 0 ; Is the plane usable for air traffic
As I understand it this line is about the flying traffic.

Documentation about the use of the above lines.

Site where the above information is from.
https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Content_Configuration/SimObjects/Aircraft_SimO/Additional_CFG_Information.htm

If you have any Liveries that You don’t want to show on the selection screen, change this line in the corresponding [FLTSIM.X] section.

isUserSelectable = 1 ; Is the plane selectable by the user
to
isUserSelectable = 0 ; Is the plane selectable by the user

Hope it helps.

Happy Simming

Ha! that’s gold.

And coincidentally last night I watched a Netflix movie - The Out-Laws

Overall not a bad movie and an OK way to kill 90 minutes, but it has Julie Hagerty in a support role and she is as hilarious as ever… as is her on screen husband Richard Kind.

Few screens from my latest trips over the Kamchatka in An-2 just to get a feel of the remoteness of this place:

Trying to find a spot to land on. There should be a disused grass field somewhere…

These few are from flying the Stratoliner on the Able route westbound from Likiang to Ft Hertz. The Able route was a High Hump route and the fact that the performance of the Stratoliner is not modelled correctly caused a few hairy moments where I was almost scratching the ridges of the mountains. All good in the end. I hope AH/MS will update this aircraft to meet its specs in terms of performance (in its current state it does not perform any better than the DC-3). The Stratoliner, once more polished, has a very good potential.

Here I am flying east again on the Fox route, segment between Manipur Road and Sahmaw. So far the best fitting aircraft in the sim for this kind of a job is the DC-3. I hope one day we will see a C-46 join the ranks :star_struck:

Finally some weather. I have not seen much of it so far flying over the Hump.

And the last one checking out the NeoFly v4 on a cargo flight in the vicinity of my home-town over the recently updated region by WU14. Pretty :slight_smile:

so with the recent WU I discovered one particular nuance I didnt notice in particular before ( I just forget about it I guess ).

one have to go to the MARKETPLACE first, look up the WU and hit the GET button ( or GET & DL ) to make it appear in the CONTENT MANAGER.

originaly I thought it will appear in CM automaticaly as these are free updates but nope, MP first, then CM.

Nice. I’ve been to TNCM in real life but have yet to make the trip to TNCS or TFFJ, two exciting approaches. I’ve watched videos and listened to my brother’s adventures, so they are definitely on my list of places to visit. :grin:

thx for heads up. we need to pay virtual visit also to this nice location. we actually ended at TNCM this last Fri.
must be great adventure to visit this places in real life.

I was born and raised in the Caribbean so most of my flights have been between islands. The shortest flight I ever took was from Anguilla to St. Maaten. We basically did a U-turn in the air in a Beech Baron. :smile: The pilot actually trained both my brothers back in the day. I don’t know how much you know about St. Barths (Gustaf III - TFFJ), but most approaches are over the hill to RWY-10. and pilots have to get a special short takeoff and landing certification to operate in and out of the airport. Very exciting in real life and in the simulator.

must have been adventurous childhood then :slight_smile:

so we paid visit to St.Barths, agree, definitely exciting place. didnt know the details about the pilot cert for this place, great info.

Nice. You actually did it. You’ve definitely earned your virtual special certification.

Cheers!

I took on an emergency mission in Neofly and flew a doctor out to a capsized yacht. When I landed next to it I almost peed myself laughing. Look in front of the dinghy a few metres!

That thing was circling the whole time and yes, I was “da-da-da-dah”-ing the Jaws music! :joy:
