MSFS - Screenshots

I find myself in the opposite boat, for now I’m still spending most of my time in XP11 still. I’m just not happy with the performance currently and I dread the idea of starting something like the PMDG in it’s current state. I’m hoping that’s something addressed in coming patches but for now I’m sticking with XP for the most part.

It sure is pretty though.

While watching the SpaceX stream I did another short flight in Italy, visiting the Vajont Dam.

Sadly it isn’t properly modeled. But the terrain is pretty good! You can see the spot where a part of the mountain basically broke off and fell into the water. It caused a massive wave that killed a lot of people in the village below, but the dam itself surveved. The lake was never re-filled though.

Took off from LIDB, it is just a few miles north from there.

Here I am right over where the lake was. To the left you can see the part of the mountain where no trees grow. That is where it broke off.
Near the tip of my right wing there is all the material that came down. The dam itself is at the end of that valley, where the street goes up.

Those valleys in the alps sure are pretty.

Just give me a C-47 or a C-46 so that I can finally recreate the Over the Hump flights in their full glory!

…and just for a comparison (and some memories) here are some screens from my home-made Over the Hump scenery for P3D

Although graphically it lags behind the MSFS 2020, in VR it was still a blast! :vr:

Mudspike Air Delivery would not be living up to its acronym if a meteorological event such as a double hurricane would ground our operations. Since virtually all GA sized aircraft present in MSFS were hogged in FSE, I decided to see how well the Airbus A320 performs in these windy weathers, and make a buck or two while doing so.

I was amazed by how quickly she froze up during the climb. A few passes through cloud layers in between 6 to 15 thousand feet and the chunks were already hanging on the hull. I turned on all the anti-ice systems and didn’t notice any real performance degredation throughout the flight.

Coming down on Love Field.

That cloudscape looks phenomenal.

I downloaded the freeware addon for St Michael’s Tower on top of Glastonbury Tor…

Skyrim-like atmosphere
(still checking for the dragons…)

There is something about Glastonbury.
I was trying to get a low layer of fog with the Tor rising above it, but a misty haziness was all I could conjure up. I need to play more with the weather settings as I am sure it can be done.

Something like this…

Boca Chica, Texas, USA.
The SpaceX launch facilities and stuff aren’t modeled yet, but I am sure somebody will do that.
Interesting landscape though!

Making some money with the TBM (perhaps we should own one?)

So here are some screenshots of Mühlheim and (mostly) Duisburg which is close to where I grew up. The representation is really good:

The waves are kind of frightening… very realistic and ominous.

Are you dropping sonobuoys?

I’m not sure that I could carry many with an A5… We need a P3, Nimrod or Poseidon  .

We have enough cash to get it, go ahead and buy one.

Cheers! We now own one  Cheapest I could find, good hours on frame and engine (practically new almost). She was parked somewhere in the mountains of California.

Did a little flight from Sochi to Nalchik, with a little detour over the Georgian part of the Caucasus.
Looks mostly great!

Sochi

All those fights I had in those valleys…

The dam is missing but the area is very recognizable.

If you know a bit about geology then this is a very interesting area. Look at those structures! Sadly Elbrus had a little graphical glitch.

Flying into Nalchik. Had a little weirdness in the wind there. Or maybe there is something I don’t understand. My plane said wind was 220 but they still let me land on runway 6 instead of 24. Maybe because it was only two knots so they didn’t care?
…but then I remember them saying on the radio it was 90°…
Maybe the wind had just changed direction?
Anyway, the landing was uneventful, as landings should be.

Bought my first add-on, and since this game is more of a sight seeing game to me then actually learning to fly…

Drze-whisky Design Washington Landmarks (Thx to Beach for the post)

I went to DC for the first time in my life 2 years ago… road up on my MC… it was the 4th of July so it was completely shut down to traffic… was awesome.

Still can’t figure out how to move the camera in drone mode, so these have to do. lol)
