Been thinking about this. I’m not good enough and neither is my hardware but…
We have ‘full track degredation’ turned on. In real rally’s in the snow, previous drivers have swept it for you; but if it wasn’t snowing they would have cut up the road more and reduced grip.
Could it be that Dirt Rally 2 is modelling that? If so wow!
I decided to go with some bright red Italian goodness… I really like the Fiat 131, its one of the few cars in game that I’ve driven in real life albeit a Supermirafiori.
Stage 1 was smooth, but stage 2… Oh my, all over the place. Stage 3 chasing down Chaz’s time but was behind in every split, fortunately managed to have enough to remain ahead for now.
Stage 1 was nice and tidy, I felt I had a bit left in reserve, but not a bad time (by my standards).
Stage 2: Hmmm, after inadvertantly selecting softs instead of snow tyres, it was a skating rink. Squandered my narrow lead over Nevo and never got it back, despite Stage 3 being the only one where I felt fast?
And I was never going to get anywhere near keets and Chaz anyway.
And therein lies my problem… Tyres is pretty much the only ‘thing’ I do in the garage. I quite often change the brake bias rearward for the dirt but left it as is for the tarmac of Monaco.
I thought I had fitted a fresh set of snow tyres for Stage 2, but as soon as I started I knew something wasn’t right. It was as slick as goose poo.
Sure enough when I checked before stage 3 there was a set of worn softs on the car.
Well that was fun. Except for the tiptoeing around in SS2! It felt so slow. You two leaders must be part penguin! If WRC ever gets VR, I look forward to driving similar stages at Monte Carlo
