Did I do that again?

Oh dear.

So…what IDIOT decided not to put the power meter in the gameplay options??

me2

Ooof…well, it wasn’t as terrible as I thought it might be. Funny…I think we’ve both observed that on the other time(s)(?) I screwed up that option…it almost really doesn’t make a huge difference. I mean…your swing tempo is your swing tempo. The only real difference is when the club selection is between clubs and you need to take some power off. I found putting some additional spin on the ball sorta helped temper the power a bit I suppose.

1800 Tequila thinks I should play the second round.

So Round #2 was…windy and wet… Fun stuff. I don’t think I’ve used that much strength on putts ever…it is like putting through concrete. Aiming is…hilarious. I was aiming probably a full fairway-width left and right at some points…and taking 2 and 3 clubs more and less for the winds…

I thought I played pretty good on the front nine…then disaster struck on the back nine. In my defense…my wife was watching The Bachelor and one of the gals on that show who is insufferable…but had a great rack…was on TV distracting me (Victoria…you know who I’m talking about @jross - I know your wife makes you watch it too!!)

So anyway…double bogey - bogey - bogey. Then Victoria got kicked off the show… Shoulda put my headphones on…

Our agreement: I won’t make snarky remarks about her TV; she won’t laugh at me in my VR headset. Works out quite well

Well that was a lot of fun. I started with a typical first hole bogey, then had to focus to maintain par. Gradually I saw your lead dropping as your attention was elsewhere :stuck_out_tongue:

Onto the back 9 I made a rare birdie, then a bogey on the 13th and it was level. A very twitchy run in, where I was fortunate not to drop shots then I over hit my 2nd on the 18th, but the wind curved it round to land within a few inches for an easy tap in birdie.

Scorecard

I’ll play the next round, but happy to run this on as you’ve bigger things to worry about.

Got two more rounds in…I mean…hey…what else do I have to do?

First round was going well on the front…then I had a disastrous string of bogeys. Second round I think I went for that first fairway with a driver and promptly put it in the water. Managed to save bogey. Had a nice string of birdies toward the turn and had an OK third round. I think you have this one in hand though. Again, the lack of a power meter really hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be…

Is your wife watching her programs again? :joy:

The power meter missing has added a level of uncertainty, it’s not that bad or hard, it just puts doubt in your mind. I have duffed a few shots, very similar to RL, which are close to the green and hit the ball about 4 yards.

I’ll get the remaining round done today.

Oh man…you squeaked it out…! What a great back-and-forth over the course of the four rounds…!

Ha, you ninja’d :ninja: me. Was just about to post a round report…

I found this round quite difficult, not sure if it was the oversize hat my avatar was wearing. I maintained even par to the back 9, then birdied 3 with you seeming to close the gap.

Hole 15, 16 and 17 I bogey’d. The 18th, I nearly went into the water, literally played the shot with a wet ball. Ahem. Somehow managed to save par and finish even for the round.

Had it gone in the water, 1 shot penalty, stroke and distance and I’d have been 2 over.

Great fun. :slightly_smiling_face:

Alrighty…so we’ve had some pretty tame courses for the past few weeks. Nothing too zany…so lets give Amaroo Bay a whirl. Definitely some areas to get ourselves into trouble and possibly cause some wild swings in the outcomes of the rounds. I think I got the difficulty settings right this time (…uh…sure…) The event ends on my last day of quarantine (yay!). Conditions start out at default, stay fairly calm with fast conditions until that storm blows in on day four bringing some insane winds and softer fairways and greens.

Stick to the cart path…this course has consequences…

Round 1 completed.

What a stunning course. Playing back and forth across the ravine is challenging. Lots of height changes. One on the back 9 is 150ft down.

Front 9 was much better than the back 9. 2 of the 3 bogeys were avoidable, trying to be ambitious from a poor lie. I should have played safe.

Good luck on your round.

Wow. What a crazy course. I feel like it is fair…but requires a LOT of thought and care. I had some club selections that I thought were going to work out…but didn’t. Front nine was an anxiety inducing rollercoaster. I think I used a 3-wood off the tee on #10 and it ended up landing short and rolling off the cliff out-of-bounds. I then took a driver and didn’t go conservative enough and darn near put that one OB too. The rest of the back-9 went well. Honestly though…this could have just as easily been a +5 or +7 round as a -2 round. Some of those greens have terrifying consequences. I’m dreading that fourth round in the tempest…

I had exactly the same feeling. Constantly feeling like I was about to do something horrendous. I loved it. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll try and do my second round before you as you are 1 shot to the good. I have absolutely I idea how this will go.

Yeah…the tension is fantastic. And when I rip one errantly in the wrong direction…I hold my breathe! Same with when I run a putt a bit too far past leaving a short, but easily missed breaking putt to save the hole…

Well the second round doesn’t disappoint. Its still a breathtaking ride of risk, reward and heart in your mouth golf.

I started with the usual on the first hole. Then back in the game with the second. I somehow fluked a chip to save par on the third.

The shots over the ravine didn’t seem a bad with the small change in wind direction, but this can only get worse with what’s coming. I hit a rock on one of them, after thinking it was game over, which gave a huge positive bounce forward to the heart of the fairway instead of OOB.

My tee shot on the one round the edge of the water ended up again on the steep downslope, but having learnt the hardway, I played back on the fairway and managed the first of 3 birdies on the bounce.

A very fortunate -6 for the day, which could so easily have been 4 over.
