Mudspike Golf Club - 2025

You ain’t seen nothing yet

That defaults to keyboard ‘m’ Profile Menu then Settings tab

Of course, the “Profile” menu… where the “System Settings” are stored as part of your Profile, not as something that applies to all profiles on this PC

Thanks - I wouldn’t have thought of that until I stumbled across it looking for something else

I didn’t so much as stumble across it as click ‘buttons’ at random until I found it… figuring one of them would get me to a settings screen

I’ve accepted these pending requests so they should all allow you in…hopefully…

I’m not planning to play the event until I have a beer in my hand tonight… I play better when I’m drinking.

Request sent….

Installing. My last golf game was Tiger Woods 09 on PS3. It’s been a long time. Is it better to play with Controller or Mouse&Keyboard?

FYI for everyone, it’s a bit awkward in that once you have been approved by @BeachAV8R, you then have to go back in and “join” the society that you’ve requested to join.

Gentleman, you have your work cut out for you, a +11 on the first round is going to be a hard to beat score. High scores are good right…?

The triple bogie on the first hole after rolling out of bounds on a chip to the green, and a few other double bogies on my approach game really did me in. Played one of he bushes so deep the camera couldn’t find me. I should have figured how to just do a drop on that one. Putting has always been a weakness IRL and in golf games, and that continued. A lot of 2 putts today.

Regardless fun way to kill 45 minutes :+1:

Should be approved…you’ll have to go back in and JOIN the society again I guess is how it works…! (Thanks @boomerang10 - wasn’t sure how exactly that works…)

Kind of how I expect this season to go…

First 18 holes out of the way. Not too bad, but a shaky start and finish to end up on the unhappy side of par. Pretty sure I found those same bushes on the 5th as you did @jenrick

A pity we can’t take one mulligan… I was trying to ‘shape’ my drive on the 17th but didn’t hold the L-Shift and next thing you know I have dribbled the ball into the deep rough about 50 yards from the tee and was lucky to get away with just a bogie

But still way better than I could ever hope for IRL.

I will try to finish the round this afternoon.

I hate the greens in this game so so much :rage:
The ones in Wii Golf were so much better

It is cool how the sand marks in the bunker stay between shots

I’m seriously regretting agreeing to my mom being my caddy …

I’ve got a long way to catch up after that round! +20 in the end?!

I should have done the training instead of winging it :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I managed to stay out of the water… And for triple bogey’ing two holes, I think I shot a pretty respectable 82. Once I finally figured out the whole lie thing and that the distance marker was basically lying to me, that helped a lot. Still really need to work on my putting. Ironically drilled it into the trees on I think 15 or 16, and ended up par on that one.

It took me a while to get used to the wind. Once it is above about 10mph then distance and ‘aim-off’ are a best guess. It also seems that head wind and tail wind have a greater effect than a cross wind?

My first round was OK (3 over), but the 2nd was a shocker… I haven’t seen so many bogeys since the last time I blew my nose! I am lucky that I ended up only 8 over for the day because I was up to 11 over after the first three holes in the second round.

Thanks heaps for organising this Chris. With my ping and time zone, games like this (and Dirt Rally) are the closest I get to co-op play with my Mudspike friends. Best 13 bucks I have spent for a while

Looking forward to the next round.

Congrats to @keets for winning the season opener. I would have been a contender except for an unfortunate (gulp) 8 on one of the holes… Not ENOUGH beer I think…!

Our next event will be from tonight for 5-days through to January 8. I figured since we (well…most of you!) are up in the Norway area for the Christmas flight…it only made sense to play a round…!

I did some research (play testing) of some of the user created Norway courses. Some of them are ridiculously tight and contoured…so I settled on Aas Gard, Hakadal, Norway given that I think it is a “fair” track. There are some tight fairways…but they aren’t bounded by ridiculous terrain. I think it is eminently playable.

Good luck fellow Mudspikers!

I’m playing with an X-Box controller and rather enjoy the forward/backward motion of the controller swing. The timing can be tough..and isn’t forgiving of too fast/too slow..but I feel it is a good approximation of a golf swing.

She probably bakes the best cookies though…!

Yes..a combination of offsetting for the wind..and sometimes even shaping the shot to “claw into” the wind can often have good results. Head and tailwind definitely have a huge effect..often necessitating one or two clubs more or less. Also..green elevation of 20’ or so can often mean one or two more or less clubs. It is a fun calculus to try to get right…

That is great to hear. I’ll try to keep up with the tournament schedule such that we have maybe an event each week or so. If the general consensus that 2 rounds is enough per tournament..we can stick with that. We could always sprinkle in a few 4-round “majors” into the mix that have longer tournament times (maybe 10 days) to complete play. This is “our” club..so I’m willing to take suggestions. We can also maybe rotate in suggested courses and see what the “membership” likes to play. I’m not sure if there are other than stroke play options for each tournament. I don’t know too much about PGA 2K23 and what kinds of play are supported. I’ll do some digging… Maybe we can have a Ryder Cup type format or something at some point..

A two rounds per week event works for me.

Maybe an additional, or instead of, four round ‘major’ event once per Season - Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring. i.e. ‘The Mudspike Summer Invitational’ for those who are keen?
