Thank you for hosting a great mission @Cib and to all who were there … a great fun night
That was a fun evening. Thanks for the mission and hosting @Cib
@chipwich
@Derbysieger
And either @tempusmurphy or @Freak dodging some fire.
Cheers guys it was a bit of a slog but very enjoyable. I will try to get some 2D screens tomorrow from the track file
A great way to spend a Friday afternoon @Cib. Thanks for hosting and leading slick flight. Helos and the Marianas map is a match made in heaven. Love getting into tight LZs and dropping off grunts. You boys in the Hind look like you were having too much fun. Must dive into that one. -cheers
As much as I love my Hind… the apache was probably the better machine for that mission and map, trying to spot targets in the jungle was a nightmare… mostly just spot where the tracers came from and dump a load of unguided rockets there
… may have been considered slightly questionable by Geneva, also i should have tried to coordinate with @Freak and @Derbysieger a bit better, but still great
A collage of screens I grabbed before the trk file went squiffy
Next scenarios I would like to work on are a convoy defence type mission or a return to Jugroom fort
with an attack chopper theme with some logistics involved for hueys and hips
Does anyone have a preference?
the Afganistan mission sounds interesting, which map would you use as a base for it?
Either scenario sounds awesome @Cib !
Of the desert maps, I own all except Syria (so I do have NTTR and PG) but that can of course be fixed during this summer sale if that would be helpful.
I absolutely loved the mission. It felt very daunting at first, but that made it all the more satisfying when we gained more and more ground.
Thanks for the beautiful screens, I am just going to leave this ugly one here as proof that I did land a Hind on the tiny Castle-class Corvette ![]()
EDIT: I have to say that @Derbysieger also landed his Apache on the same ship, couldn’t take a screenshot of that unfortunately. But real British pilots landed Chinooks on them apparently! ![]()
I had a little play to add a radio trigger for stopping and starting the convoy
And it works. This is the PG map and maybe we should do the fort one in Nevada to double as Afghan. Its always kinder on the frames and I love the Nevada airfields
Nice to see my mishap in the hip recorded for posterity ![]()
Just like real life, the fire started in the cargo bay ala moskva
Sorry old chap, at least you were able to unload your troops before the inevitable occurred.
My cargo was not so lucky in the last four photos in my previous post. A Huey will definitely not autorotate with most of its main rotor shot away, and the view of the explosion as seen from both @tempusmurphy’s Hind and @Derbysieger’s Apache. ![]()
Regardless, that was a hell-of-a battlefield that you created. Constant action. That MRLS attack on the airfield while we waited for the gunships to soften up the bad guys, was spectacular. Glad that they didn’t adjust fire for a second salvo. Or was that you preventing an overrun of the airfield?
Enemy mlrs i forgot i put that in and got as much of a surprise as yourself
The next mission will be a bit more sedate. A convoy protection detail for gunships and medevac slots for the huey or if people agree the latest version of the UH60 mod.
can you join a server if you dont have the mod?
Good question…
I dont think so and that was the reason for asking. Personally i am happy to have hueys to operate as the medevac flights but the mod was mentioned in an earlier post
If you can create two identical missions- one with the mod and one without we can crash-test it.
I have a general mission made that may need to be refined.
The Apache flights only task is the protection of the convoy as the enemy are determined to stop the resupply.
Intercepted radio transmissions indicate a large presence of Taliban are massing near FOB Robinson as well as Al Qeida suicide squads along the route.
The convoy is very lightly armed and it is up to you Apache pilots to protect it from all axis of attack
Waypoints Are Shiraz FOB Robinson and FOB Rhino
Medevac flights are available At Shiraz Airport
The convoy will broadcast on 30 FM for ADF
2 Apaches start hot on the ground at the convoy start. The other 2 start cold at Shiraz airport.
Flight times are realistic and the convoy takes 2 hours to reach its destination.
Anyone up for testing tonight?
