So I dropped my son off for his first day at college. He is going to be based at Newcastle International learning aircraft engineering. Time flies I remember taking him for his first day at Nursery
Congrats to the proud parents and your son! It’s a fantastic caffeine fuelled career!
Good luck to him pursuing his dream.
It is a noble profession!
Aviation may not be what it used to be, with reference to salary or working hours, but being a pilot still is the best job I ever had…
They sucker us in and keep us in because we love aircraft, not the salary
Pretty much every flight at some point I am thinking “they actually pay me to do this?” with a genuine sense of disbelief.
Just remember to know how far you can see in 3D
I hate my job when it’s 3AM and I have to go through 160 seats to replace safety cards. I hate my job when my back hurts because I’ve spent the last 30 minutes inside a engine in a not so good position.
But dammit do I love it when the summer sun rises, a early breeze goes through the hangar and they drag out the aircraft. I still have a sense of awe when I see that. Or when the shuffle happens because the adjacent bays are also bringing out their planes. Seeing 6 massive aircraft being shifted around like a dance is gorgeous.
