New mouse

Squeak squeak :jenneke:

Seriously though, my mouse has started misbehaving (left click hold doesn’t work reliably, and randomly left click = double-click).

So I’m looking into a new one. I’m leaning toward just replacing same model (Razer Death Adder) as I’ve had it for two iterations and probably 10+ years combined now. Good mouse.

Just wondering if there are some alternatives people would recommend. I’m not 100% wedded to it, so if there’s another great option out there, I’ll take a look.

It depends on which features you like.
I kinda like mice where you can unlock the wheel to make it free scrolling, and adjustable weights. Some of the Logitech mice have that.
Some mice have LOADS of buttons, like the Razer Naga. A whole num block on your mouse. Some people like that.
All laser mice are precise enough for gaming. Adjustable dpi sometimes comes in handy if you need it faster or slower during gameplay.

Ya I’m not fussed with super fancy stuff like adjustable weights. I don’t even really need an extra button - the death adder has 5 (left, right, middle, and two on the side). That’s more than enough for say shoot / aim / melee / ptt / nades in most games. Obviously more complex games you start using the keyboard with this setup, also not a problem.

But I mean, if I -had- more buttons at similar price range that’s not a horrible thing. Naga is an interesting option though more expensive.

Part of this decision comes down to feel / shape too - need to be comfortable while using.

Thanks for the reply.

I prefer Logitech mouse. I currently have two: MX Master and G900.
They both have pros and cons. I like the MX master for unlocking the scroll wheel. Aso very good response on scroll button. It does not have the DPI though. Can feel a bit sluggish in FPS games.
The G900 has the DPI and precision clicks minus the scroll wheel click. It also has a completely useless led light that pulses at ~40Hz to induce a slight epileptic coma. It’s utterly useless.

Always a fan of epiletic seizures.

I quite like my Logitech G600 because I like mice with lots of buttons … It has 20, 12 of which are thumb buttons. Decent DPI too.

LOL catch the snippet this guy stuck in his review for the G600.

I’ve been using a Logitech M570 Trackball for years and love it. Very little movement and by using my thumb, fingers are free for button clicking.

I probably should invest in a trackball mouse. I haven’t used a mouse for FPS gaming in probably seven or eight years.

Wait. When did the 360 controller come out?

I’m a big noob and realize I switched to the mamba last iteration. Name mixup. Those extra two buttons for managing on the fly dpi are very useful.

Ok, so the mamba is ridic expensive now, and there are equal or better mice for cheaper, so that was out. I’ve opted for the Logitech G502. Little narrower I find, but so far it’s pretty comfortable. Just need to customize my buttons and dpi settings and we’re good to go. 30 days to return if I don’t like it.

I have the G502 as well, and very happy with it. The thumb buttons aren’t as intuitive as I’d like, but they work.

After you return it, go to Walmart and grab the G600 for 69.99 … I’ve seen it there for 59.99 tho.

that looked too huge honestly

It is quite large, but I have big hands. I accidentally hit the third button with my ring finger every now and then though … definitely a “First world problem”.

I wouldn’t suggest a trackball mouse for FPS. The trackball devotee at the office WAY BACK used to get obliterated every time during our 4 player Duke Nukem 3D/Descent deathmatch games over the LAN.

Trackballs might be good for working on spreadsheets and such but you can’t ignore that extra dimension of movement that your hand has when you’re trying to kill someone.

Yeah, but I’m not going to be playing MP FPS games on the PC, anyway.

Here is a new fancy gaming mouse from Corsair –
Corsair Glaive RGB

+1 for Corsair. Excellent mice. I don’t like that one though … not enough buttons. I actually stopped using my M90 because it didn’t have enough buttons LOL! Only 9 thumb buttons!? Unacceptable …

Definitely a runner up though.

I find the G600 a lot more intuitive …

The shapes of those buttons look like they’re instantly recognizable by feel alone.

I like.
