New project from Il-2 BOx studio

OK, that’s interesting, I’ll admit it.
I was afraid they would announce something like pacific theater…

Korea … are they doing a cold wars series, perhaps going forwards, you could have all the middle east stuff then into Vietnam

Being honest- I am mildly aroused by the idea.

Nice surprise! I’ve been longing for a Korean War sim. Any news about carrier ops? (Haven’t watched the vid)

Ok, now they are just showing off.
While interesting to have that sort of thing it kind of reminds me of the lavish promises of Star Citizen

EDIT: One thing I hope I do is refine the AI so that large formations don’t kill the framerate as the latest IL2 : Battles did.

OK, cool.

Now please, for the love of all that is holy, tell me they’re including at least partially clickable cockpits now.

Heheheh I am in the minority but I can totally live without that.

Will they be modeling doggy paddle, breast stroke, back stroke? We need details on swim models that will be included!

The most recent sim that I can think of that hinted at a Korea project was from Russian Rocket Games and IL-2 Sturmovik when ILya (luthier) and Oleg were still producing content.

Ooooof, cringe memory unlocked.

Apparently large formations will use simplified flight models to optimize the performance. It’s been mentioned on their website.

Could “skip time on the route feature” be the return of my long lost forgotten most favorite flight sim feature ever, ‘skip to the next waypoint’?!?

These are screens from the official website- nothing secret but I must say I like very much the environments.

Though- I still feel that DCS has somehow a better world, overall.
The difference is so thin that I can’t honestly put my finger on it…

There are some interesting details like the sparkles from the train brakes…

Volumetrics effect are indeed very smooth

Wasn’t expecting anything less on other ground vehicles…
Textures are supremely detailed even if the wheels look a bit… floaty… still.

The mood is stunning thought

Besides all- the timing is impeccable.

It sounds like something I’d like (I’m rediscovering BoX now that they’ve updated it to support modern controllers … only took ten years!), and I can live without a clickable cockpit so long as the simulation is simplified (but I’d prefer something like Cliffs of Dover).

I’m slightly disappointed they seem to be using the same game engine without any serious upgrades, it’s looking a bit dated now! But I’m not going to ding them too much for that because it works well on moderate hardware.

The main concern I have is the price. If it’s going to cost me a AAA game price, that’s fine. If it’s going to cost me a AAA game price to get the Sabre and MiG-15, then a year later another AAA game price to get a Sea Fury and a Panther… I spent all my hobby money that’s not dedicated to DCS on Flying Circus already guys!

Edit: though if they do the “Battle of X” thing and there’s one with a Sea Fury and a Seafire 47 along with Triumph and/or Sydney I’ll probably just buy that edition and be very happy!

Pretty excited for this!

It’s beautiful. But there’s plenty of beautiful out there already. I am looking for game: a war below with troops on the move, a reason for CAS. If it’s just planes and tanks and AAA (and trains), no thank you!
