New Virpil Throttle

Better control over your collective would allow you to play the Z axis better in urban helicopter combat, a good reason to improve your throttle situation

Sorry, I was unsure of ā€stuffā€
Yeah, the CM2 will go. Probably keep it a while so I can provide support for those poor lost souls that installed my detent 3D prints…

What’s the mech. to sync the physical detent to the virtual one in each aircraft? Did ED add something like Falcon 4/BMS has?

As of now, you have to make an axis curve in DCS, for each aircraft.
With the CM3, you can also move the physical detent, slightly.
With the new VPC software you will be able to tell the firmware in the throttle, what % thrust it should report at the physical detent. I’m not sure this is at the same % for all DCS aircraft, though… So you may still have to set up a curve in most DCS modules.
Would be great if DCS had a Falcon 4 feature so you could set the % for Afterburner for each module.

I’m finding this a handy feature, although in the Hornet, the aerobatic detent as delivered was pretty close to 100% for both throttles.

Being able to be precise about A model tomcat afterburner settings would make me seriously contemplate a new throttle unit. (longer throw sounds nice too, as do the rotary selection buttons)

@chipwich, what detents are you using now?
I like the classic +. The extra detent is useful when pulling back, in the Afterburner range.

The CM3 is absolutely worth considering.

(whispering to myself: I am happy with my CM2, I am happy with my CM2…)

I’ve settled on the Aerobatic for A/B and Classic Plus for idle/cutoff.

Finally finished binding everything. I just set the firmware at the initial throttle detent of 0-6%. i didn’t do anything else because the physical detents I made spot on with the level of thrust i wanted. i love the 0-6% because it give me the right speed to manuever on the boat…not to fast not to slow. I’m using the Warthog back detent and the classic plus in the front. loving how it feels so far. i’m going to take the Cat through the motions of cold start on shore and the boat. Get the mechanics down.

So you mean that the CM3 cannot be mapped easily to existing CM2 bindings?

Like copying the profile in the Virpil application from CM2 to CM3 preserving all the overlapping physical and logical buttons and axes?

Not sure what you mean, but yes, you can map the CM3 just like the CM2. It’s just that anytime you hook up a new USB controller, DCS will have you map it to the controls again…

What I meant was the CM3 taking over my custom mappings and tweaks I made in the Virpil app for the CM2.

Though you kinda answered in a practical way - DCS recognizing it as a new controller.
