By the way, since most people still think Reverbs are only good right now as doorstops, they are out there for very cheap.
Like less than $200
For me a most uncomfortable VR set BUT itās nice to have a backup. This is good news.
This is great news. Iāve jumped ship to Quest and due to the excellent image stabilization in the mirror app, which helps me with recording footage, Iām not going back.
But at least I have more options for the old WMR headset than contributing to the massive amount of e-waste Win11 is generating!
Good news for a backup. I bought a used Sony PSVR2 due potential bricking of G2. Oh my, those OLEDāsā¦
I bought a gen1 G2 and never looked back. HP resolved my issues with the gen1 cable literally overnight when I submitted my request. Although controller tracking sux, imho, I only play sims in VR, so no problemo for me. That said I love my G2 and if that video is truly legit, tiz good newz indeedz! ![]()
This is good news to me. My G2 is still kicking, and Iāve been avoiding upgrading to Win 11 because I donāt want to brick my set, although that could be an excuse to get a Pimax. ![]()
Somebody read āready Player Oneā a few times over I think. ![]()
Still, great news.
Oasis is unfortunately restricted to Nvidia GPUs
Bummer.
PSA
And it got integrated to SteamVR. Sweet.
Plugged in the old Samsung Odyssey+ headset yesterday.
clicked āinstallā on the Oasis driver. Started it in pairing mode. Started it in normal mode. All done. It just worked.
And thatās with an AMD GPU.
I can finish HL Alyx now ![]()
Have you noticed a performance improvement? When I set up my G2, it actually ran better than it did under Win10. Iām not sure if it was a placebo effect, a true improvement, or a combination of factors that led to improved performance. Either way, Iām a happy camper, but just curious.
There should be, as being a native steam vr driver makes things more efficient and that stack has been steadily improved upon while WMR sort of sat stagnant. There are some other things coming for Oasis soon for it (I work on it), like the improved room view (the ghost view is pretty cool) and things that were in the old OpenXR toolkit like CAS sharpening etc.
The author Matt B decided to leave Xbox and is now working for Valve, so a lot of the project is on hold while he gets his life sorted out a bit more.
Canāt say, as in the mean time i swapped the RX6800XT for a RX9070XT. That helped for sure.
The oasis driver under Win 11 25H2 runs much better than WMR with openXR under Win 10 or Win 11 23H2. I noticed a big improvement on my end, frame times are absolutely flat, no stuttering at all. With WMR and openXR frame times would often fluctuate wildly as soon as there was even a slight dip below 90 FPS, this simply doesnāt happen with the oasis driver. Even in situations where I canāt maintain 90fps (some very busy missions on the CWG map for example), frame times are much more stable resulting in a smoother experience despite sometimes lower average FPS.
Thanks, all. Itās good to know that the improvements are not a placebo effect. ![]()
