It might sound weird but I think I would just use steel or something, and put some wood around the steel beams so they look authentic.
Not quite, they started building cities there way before 2200 years ago, this was during the rise of the Roman Republic!
As the (possibly) oldest guy on the forums, I just want it to be clear that I do not remember when they first started construction.
