Wow. I don’t have, nor would I want to burn that kind of cash, but that is impressive hombre.

I have come to the conclusion DCS is badly optomised

You threw thousands of pounds at it, and it still can’t run smoothly?

DCS has never been GPU throttled, unless perhaps at 4K with everything maxed out and a lot on screen at once.
People with performance issues at 1080p on $500 cards prove that.

It wants a good CPU and a lot of fast RAM. I can use 85% of my 32GB in Syria without much effort.

I got a shock when I pressed the high preset and got a slide show. I then realised the super sampling was set to 2.0. I have hit the sweets pot now.
High preset less the shadows set to flat. 2x msaa and 8x AA. SS 1.6
This gives between 90 and 60 fps with ASW disabled
Normandy looks lush now as does Syria and the channel

IIRC you should not use SSAA and MSAA at the same time, because the performance is abysmal. Try using one or the other maybe at slightly higher settings and see how that goes.

And…it’s the only pointy-nosed, bomb-carrying, missile-toting, guns-a-blazin, hardcore flight sim - in VR (my thing) - we have. No competition.

Wow, $2500 CAD! I paid about $1000 less for my 3080. Still though … 3090 baby!!! Well done.

Lol the cost of GPUs in Canadian sand grains is depressing

Just an update, after realising the folly of trying to ast my settings using the Channel, spit, 109 furball with the damage model optomisations or lack of.
90 FPS over the strip at night in VR

The screenshot dropped the frame rates shown down, steady 90 in the YAK

Now this is more of what I was hoping to see from these newer GPU’s:

Granted you have to sell a body-part to get a 3090. Good news is - there aren’t any available (so save your body parts)

NOTE: This was 2D, not VR. So halve those numbers.

Its in Russian but will give you a flavour. Does anyone recognise the performance counter he is using?

This is FpsVR

That’s what, about 10 units?

Sometimes, all this stuff reminds of the [not so] good old days:

Tickle Me Elmo

The infamous Tickle Me Elmo shopping frenzy of 1996 involved stampedes, scalpers, arrests and multiple injuries.
