NVIDIA RTX 3000 series

Seeing how hard it is to get a 3080 these days is making me feel pretty good about my private purchase last October for just a few hundred bucks over what they’re asking for in the store.

Well…We always have the Hope that DCS gets Optimized and incorporates “Vulcan”…That should help us…Right???

The way it often seems to go in software is that the GPU always ‘lives up to its means’ so to speak, meaning if a game/sim is optimized then they’ll be more stuff added so it looks even better - which then means it won’t be faster, just better looking. Now we could turn stuff off, to make it go faster, but then that feels less fun, knowing you aren’t seeing the new stuff.

IDK, I just bought an Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus WiFi for less than $200 US for a new Ryzen 5600X and I’m liking it a lot for the investment. It is really easy to configure and has all the bells and whistles I’ll ever use for a mid priced board. Would do it again.

My brother works near a MicroCenter and is hunting a GPU for me. He’s been lucky or smart, but he has gotten there at opening and found them on the shelf. A 3080 would be smart money, IMO, but told him to let me know if he sees any 3000 series boards. I think that a retailer is probably your best bet these days, especially one that won’t sell rare stuff online.

Congrats on the purchase, glad you’re happy with it.

I don’t mean to spoil your enjoyment of it, but all of those features and convenience could have been had on a B550 board from the same manufacturer as well.

But hey, who knows, maybe you’ll end up putting in that third PCI 4.0 device over the years, or so many PCI 3 SSDs that you would’ve run out of lanes on B550.

I’m not saying X570 is a scam, all I’m trying to say is if you haven’t bought one and aren’t sure if you should, you probably shouldn’t. No harm intended.

I am an idiot. But I’m a sucker for the looks (oh my, the implications on my love life)… I just want something that looks this good:

I bought my wife a white NZXT case, it’s a beauty and easy to work with, that motherboard would look great in it.

I am so glad I took the plunge when I did 1700£ is seeming like a steal now

Yeah…I’m glad I got the boys their new computers with the RTX3070s back at Christmas. They have been enjoying the heck out of them and I feel the $1400 for a whole PC was a pretty good deal now!

Just had a look at ebay - I can’t believe 1080s are going for $350+…wow…

If they misbehave you can sell them for a profit!

I was actually able to, believe it or not, order a 3080 for MSRP. It’s arriving today, hopefully the box doesn’t taste stale and it’s not a counterfeit!

$350 for a 1080?! Unbelievable! That would let me recoup 1/2 of what I paid for the 3080…

I thought this was a good comparison vid, at least for DCS VR.

how and where did you buy it, if you don’t mind?

I paid MSRP for mine, but there’s no way the thing gets delivered in the forseeable future :frowning:

It arrived tonight. My wife reports that the box is minty fresh, Best Buy-flavored, but refuses to open it until I get home because she assumes that I spent waay too much on it… I tried to tell her I could ebay it and double my money, to which she told me to go for it!

Did you just happen to check their website on Tuesday and found one?

I use the NowInStock discord but every time I’ve gotten the notification they have it, it’s gone by the time I sit through the waiting period to add it to the cart. Once I’ve gotten it into the cart but it was sold out before I could hit checkout.
