Oculus Support: Important Notice to our Quest 2 Customers

Heads up!

Quest 2 Replacement Facial Interface Offer

Oculus has received reports of facial skin irritation from a small percentage of Quest 2 customers where the headset’s foam interface makes contact with the skin. While the vast majority of cases are mild and cases should resolve on their own, this customer experience does not meet our high standards. We completed a comprehensive investigation into the issue and identified a few trace substances that are normally present in the manufacturing process which could contribute to skin discomfort. While these were already at levels below the industry standard, out of an abundance of caution we changed our manufacturing process to reduce them even further.

Due to this issue, customers with headsets manufactured before January 4th, 2021 are eligible to receive a replacement facial interface whether or not you have experienced any irritation. Please check your headset serial number to see if you are eligible. In addition, if you have experienced skin irritation in the area of the Quest 2 foam interface regardless of manufacture date or serial number, please contact support for assistance and to request a replacement interface.

Eligible serial numbers will have both of the following:

  • First 5 characters are ‘1WMVR’ or ‘1WMHH’
  • The fourth from the last character is ‘0’ (zero)

To find your Quest 2 serial numbers:

  • Headset: On the right side of your headset, gently pull the strap back away from the strap arm until it pops off. Your headset serial number will be on the inside of the strap arm.
  • Box/packaging: On the outside of your Oculus Quest 2 box, look for a white sticker marked with a barcode. Under the barcode, find S/N followed by the 14-digit serial number.
